Introduction
Outsight’s software solutions track the motion of people and vehicles using 3D LiDAR data. Operators of transportation hubs like airports and train stations but also sport venues, road infrastructures and industrial sites can now access accurate and anonymous Spatial Intelligence data, in order to improve operations and increase user safety and satisfaction.
Our international team of scientists and engineers drive the development of our solutions from Paris, San Francisco, Sophia-Antipolis (Nice) & Hong Kong. To support our global outreach, we also operate a commercial office in Spain. You can find below an interesting link about who we are and what we do:Insights about Outsight
Our Passenger Flow Traffic Monitoring solution is trusted by the world’s leading airports and train stations across 4 continents. Additionally, our Car Traffic Remote Monitoring product is trusted by several Tier 1 customers, including BMW.
Context
The Shift Simulator is a core component of our Spatial Intelligence platform, enabling customers to test and validate LiDAR deployments and simulate synthetic people and vehicle flows before and after physical installation.
We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the 3-person Unity Simulation team and define the technical roadmap for this tool. This role combines hands-on technical architecture and development with people management. You will ensure the delivery of scalable, high-performance, and intuitive 3D simulation features that directly accelerate customer adoption and deployment. Check out our Shift Simulator.
Responsibilities
Looking back on your first 12 months, you will have accomplished:
Leadership & Management:
Lead and manage the 3-person Unity Simulation team. Conduct weekly 1:1s to support professional development.
Oversee project execution and technical roadmap. Prioritize features and bug fixes for continuous product deliveries.
Act as the primary bridge between the development team, 3D artists, and designers, ensuring 100% alignment on feature specifications.
Architecture & Development:
Define, design, and restructure the Unity C# codebase to ensure the simulation platform is scalable for future features.
Ensure the simulator’s performance (frame rate, memory usage) meets our internal 60 FPS target by leveraging Unity’s profiler tools.
Drive the development of new features, including realistic vehicles and crowd simulation with NavMesh agents, to accurately model real-world scenarios.
Requirements for the role
Engineering Experience (5+ Years):
Demonstrated experience (5+ years) in software development, including 2+ years of hands-on experience in 3D development, simulation, or gaming with Unity.
Technical Expertise:
Expertise in Unity and C# with a deep understanding of object-oriented design and architectural patterns.
Experience with the Unity API for UI development (UI Toolkit / UXML / USS) and AI Navigation System.
Proven ability to integrate and optimize 3D assets (environments, characters) and application performance using Unity’s profiling tools.
Leadership & Team Management:
2+ years of experience in team leadership, managing technical roadmaps, and mentoring 2+ engineers.
Track record of successful project delivery, managing feature prioritization and release schedules for commercial software.
Domain Knowledge:
Experience with system architecture design for complex 3D applications.
Knowledge of LiDAR sensors or point cloud processing (a significant plus).
Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
