Job Description
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Simulation and Standardized Patient Program Support Specialist [R0150112].
ROLE of the POSITION
The primary purpose of Simulation & Standardized Patient Program Support Specialist is to serve the operational and training needs of the Standardized Patient Education (SPE) Program and also be trained in Clinical Simulation Specialist responsibilities at the Clinical Simulation Center of Las Vegas (CSCLV). Simulation & Standardized Patient Program Support Specialist’s responsibilities will include working with the Standardized Patient Program Specialist and SON faculty to assist in the development of educational activities in standardized patient (SP) cases; additionally, this position will provide scheduling of and onsite daily logistics for SP events. This position will also assist with recruiting and evaluating SPs for the CSCLV and external groups. This position will support the SP Program Specialist by performing duties related to coordination of events, timesheet preparation, SP employee time entry in Workday, ensuring accuracy of pay rates, job titles, job end dates, and other related duties on behalf of the SP program.
The secondary purpose of this position is to support the CSCLV by providing technology support and lab resources for the education of nursing students and external users. This position will assist in running high fidelity simulations, audio/visual recording & support, assist with performing maintenance on task trainers, tracking inventory, and completing setup/breakdown low fidelity skills labs for all CSCLV users.
Duties include but not limited to:
Collaborate with Nursing faculty in the development of educational activities for students and residents that will support integration into discipline specific curricula
Assist with the development and design of cases to the clinical case database; participate in the design of cases to be used in teaching settings with standardized patients
Utilize a database for tracking virtual-clinical cases, standardized patients, simulation activities, clinicians involved in clinical assessment, and curricular integration
Collaborate with appropriate parties to meet the educational needs of nursing students related to the standardized patient program
Participate in the planning, organization and implementation of clinical assessment evaluations related to standardized patient events and activities
Assist with the recruitment, training, and oversight of standardized patients
Coordinate and assist with the training of standardized patients for low and high stakes student exams and teaching sessions, including standardized patient orientations on policies and procedures of the program
Assist with the coordination of standardized patients, schedule, training, and administrative tasks, including time entry in Workday
Assist with the scheduling of standardized patient simulation events, rehearsals and exercises
Coordinate the configuration of simulation A/V capturing software including authorization rules, automated provisioning interfaces, and data structure
Assist in managing the skills laboratory by maintaining supplies, equipment procurement advising, setting up equipment for learners, monitoring and maintaining equipment and software, and planning for lab needs for:

External Entities
With training, become competent in operation and use of the simulation and clinical lab equipment
Become proficient in the configuration of a/v software & conduct training session for users on how to utilize the a/v software
Provides technical operation support for:
A/V systems
Human patient simulator systems
Task trainer systems during practice, rehearsal, testing, research and learner use
Immersive patient care management simulation scenarios
Skills & task training labs
Executes high fidelity simulation set up, learner orientation, operation of equipment, and reset between scenarios
Plans and schedules with faculty to implement structured and open labs with appropriate time and resource allocations
Brief and orient faculty and learners on capabilities, limitations, safety and proper use of all simulation manikins, trainers, AV, and CSCLV equipment
Prearrange and stock all labs and simulation areas to anticipate faculty need of supplies and equipment
Facilitates weekly, monthly, and annual status checks, cleaning, and maintenance according to CSCLV & vendor specific standards, to ensure all equipment is fully operational and ready for use

The School of Nursing at UNLV offers CCNE-accredited programs leading to a BSN, MS (nurse practitioner and nurse educator tracks), DNP, and PhD (Educator and Interprofessional Health concentrations and DNP to PhD).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a High School Diploma and 2 years of related professional experience. Credentials must be obtained prior to the employment start date.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor’s degree is preferred as well as a certification as a Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS)
