Signal Integrity Engineering Intern (Summer 2026)

Overview

Join the Electronics Simulation & Data Analysis team at Lumentum, where you will contribute to advanced design and development efforts supporting next-generation optical modules and high-speed electronic systems.

This internship focuses on signal integrity simulation, PCB validation, and data-driven performance analysis. You will work alongside experienced engineers to perform simulations, conduct laboratory measurements, analyze data, and help optimize electronic and optical subsystem performance.

Responsibilities

As a Signal Integrity & Data Analysis Intern, you will:

  • Assist with PCB signal integrity simulation and validation activities.
  • Conduct laboratory measurements on PCB prototypes and analyze results.
  • Support optical chip-on-carrier (CoC) simulation and data analysis efforts.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to improve simulation methodologies and testing processes.
  • Perform data analysis using MATLAB, Python, or similar tools to support design optimization.
  • Prepare technical documentation and present findings to the engineering team.

Location

This internship will be on-site in San Jose, California.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with simulation tools and PCB design software (e.g., HFSS, PADS, or similar platforms).
  • Basic experience with laboratory measurement instruments and data analysis tools (MATLAB, Python, or similar).
  • Exposure to optical communications or electro-optic devices is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and a proactive approach to learning new technologies.

Pay Range: $23.75 - 54.30/hour USD
