Tessera is seeking a reliable and technically skilled Shop Foreman to join a team dedicated to supporting our nation’s military service members. Our Fleet Department thrives on strong relationships built by partnership, integrity, and excellence. You will lead day-to-day shop operations, mentor technicians, and ensure production, quality, HAZMAT compliance, and shop safety. This role monitors work-in-progress escalates personnel issues to management, and maintains timely, compliant repair and maintenance of military and heavy equipment.
Typical duties include but are not limited to:
- Review technician work-in-progress daily to ensure quality, timeliness, and adherence to standards.
- Perform and mentor mechanics on Army maintenance-level repairs across wheeled vehicles, tracked vehicles, engineering equipment, power generation, and material handling equipment.
- Interpret and apply Technical Manuals, Lubrication Orders, and applicable regulations to tasks and procedures.
- Ensure all forms, records, and required reports are properly annotated and submitted on schedule.
- Conduct spot checks and make on-the-spot corrections to uphold the highest quality standards.
- Validate daily labor time charged to work orders and monitor Time and Attendance sheets for accuracy.
- Maintain shop safety and HAZMAT readiness and compliance at all times.
- Verify completed contract units meet Quality Control specifications before submission.
- Maintain housekeeping, cleanliness, and safe working conditions in the shop.
- Enforce company rules, policies, and regulations; initiate progressive disciplinary action as needed.
- Lead, instruct, and motivate a team of 8–20 direct labor personnel; conduct performance reviews and implement employee recognition and motivation strategies.
- Train new employees on proper procedures, techniques, and safety practices.
- Enter and maintain accurate data in company computer databases.
- Respond calmly and effectively to safety and security issues; collaborate with other departments and external representatives.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of relevant maintenance and supervisory experience; equivalent combinations of education and experience considered.
- CDL Class A is preferred, highly desirable.
- Light, medium, and heavy truck experience preferred.
- Knowledge of maintenance, military vehicles, and equipment preferred
- Proficient with shop operations, HAZMAT, shop safety, and repair practices; able to read and apply technical manuals; comfortable with computer use and data entry.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills; ability to mentor technicians, lead a team, and maintain effective working relationships with customers and agency representatives.
Physical Requirements:
Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance. The physical demands of this position may be reasonably accommodated for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions on a case-by-case basis.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.
- Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.
- Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.
Requirements:
- Valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access. A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position.
