Position Summary
The Senior Shipping & Receiving Specialist is responsible for overseeing daily operations of the shipping and receiving dock, maintaining stockroom organization and inventory accuracy, and supporting production through timely material kitting. This role also provides basic planning support by assisting with material availability, monitoring inventory levels, and coordinating with production and supply chain teams to ensure smooth workflow. Provides shipping services including bill of ladings, packing slips, export paperwork, or compliance Shipping & Receiving Operations
Manage day-to-day operations of the shipping and receiving dock.
Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments with carriers, suppliers, and internal departments.
Inspect incoming materials for accuracy and damage; verify against packing slips and purchase orders.
Prepare outgoing shipments including packaging, labeling, and shipping documentation.
Schedule carriers and ensure shipments are completed on time.
Maintain accurate shipping and receiving records in ERP or warehouse systems.
Organize and maintain the stockroom to ensure efficient storage and retrieval of materials.
Monitor inventory levels and maintain accurate material locations.
Support cycle counting and inventory audits to maintain inventory accuracy.
Ensure materials are properly labeled, stored, and tracked within the inventory system.
Maintain stockroom cleanliness, safety, and organization.
Pick and kit materials required for production work orders.
Ensure kits are complete and accurate before release to production.
Stage kits for production schedules and coordinate material delivery to production areas.
Communicate shortages or discrepancies to planning and procurement teams.
Provide basic support to production planning by monitoring material availability for upcoming work orders.
Assist in prioritizing kitting activities based on production schedules.
Report inventory shortages or potential supply risks to planners or supervisors.
Help track work orders and ensure required materials are staged in advance.
Assist with data entry or updates related to inventory, work orders, or shipment status in ERP systems.
Serve as a key contact for dock, stockroom, and internal material flow activities.
Train or support junior shipping/receiving staff when required.
Identify opportunities to improve warehouse organization and material flow.
Assist in resolving discrepancies, shortages, or damaged goods.
High school diploma or equivalent
5+ years of experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, or material handling.
Experience with inventory control and stockroom management.
Familiarity with ERP or warehouse management systems.
Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment (certification preferred).
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to lift and move materials up to 75 lbs.
Experience in a manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of inventory control practices such as FIFO, cycle counting, and lot tracking.
Experience supporting production schedules or planning functions.
Proficiency in spreadsheets and basic inventory reporting.
