Production Shift Leader (7th Level)
Work Arrangement
Onsite. This role is categorized as onsite. The successful candidate is expected to report to Pontiac Metal Center (PMC) on a full-time basis.

The Role
In this role, you will lead assigned production shifts at the Pontiac Metal Center, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality stamping operations. You will be responsible for the daily execution of production activities, effective utilization of personnel and equipment, and consistent application of Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) principles. You will coach, train, and develop Group Leaders and team members while fostering strong working relationships with hourly employees, UAW leadership, and support organizations. This role requires hands-on leadership, strong problem-solving capability, and the ability to drive accountability for safety, quality, cost, and delivery at the shift level.
What You’ll Do
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field or equivalent manufacturing leadership experience.
3–5+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, preferably in stamping or heavy industrial environments.
Demonstrated working knowledge and application of Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) principles.
Prior leadership experience in a unionized manufacturing environment.
Ability to lead and participate in structured problem-solving activities.
Ability to interpret and act on performance indicators using production dashboards, quality tracking tools, manpower management systems, and business performance metrics.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at the shop-floor level.
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
Experience in pressroom operations, tool & die support, or stamping launch activities.
Experience supporting workplace safety systems, ergonomics initiatives, or GMS-BIQ4 standards.
Experience supporting PPAP, run-at-rate events, tooling validation, or launch readiness activities.
Demonstrated conflict-resolution skills and experience supporting grievance processes.
