The Role:
Working in our Bristol depot and reporting into the Light Maintenance Team Leader, you will be responsible for carrying out maintenance and overhaul of rail vehicles in line with laid down standards and procedures, supporting continuous improvement in quality, safety and reliability.
This role operates on a 4 on / 4 off shift pattern, working 19:00 – 06:00, averaging 37 hours per week.
Responsibilities:
• Carry out work as allocated by the Team Leader within set timescales and to recognised standards.
• Operate (drive) rail vehicles as required, within depot operating limits and in accordance with all relevant operating procedures.
• Ensure that safety procedures and documentation are adhered to in accordance with VMI and local instructions.
• Ensure that worksheets are signed off correctly and promptly on completion of work.
• Ensure that appropriate Quality and Environmental procedures and work instructions are always followed.
• Attend technical, quality, safety and general briefings, ensuring any actions raised are completed.
• Maintain good housekeeping and a consistent standard of cleanliness throughout the depot.
• Use all PPE in accordance with standards and local instructions.
• Assist the Team Leader as required to ensure rolling stock availability and reliability targets are met.
• Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
What You Bring:
• Qualifications – A minimum NVQ Level 3 qualification in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical), ideally with experience of rail traction and rolling stock.
• Experience – Previous involvement and understanding of rail vehicle maintenance activities.
• Knowledge – A good understanding of depot operations with the ability to interpret engineering drawings.
• Engineering – A sound understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles.
