Job Summary: About the Position: This position is with the Joint Munitions Command located at Pine Bluff Arsenal. This position serves as a Sheet Metal Mechanic Leader, the primary purpose of this position is to serve as a working leader over Sheet Metal Mechanics.

Major Duties:

  • Work along with other workers, setting the pace.
  • Answer workers questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives (e.g., technical orders).
  • Obtains needed information or decisions from the supervisor on problems that come up during the work.
  • Ensures that the needed plans, blueprints, material, and tools are available and attained.
  • Pass on to other workers instructions received from supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Sheet Metal Mechanic Leader without more than normal supervision. Duties such as 1. Performing welder duties using electric, acetylene and/or inert gas shield welding process; 2. Planning the steps required to accomplish work orders; and 3. Demonstrating proper work methods. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Includes Blueprint Reading) Ability to Lead or Supervise Ability to Use Hand Tools, Power Tools, etc., for Metal Work Dexterity (Assembly, Disassembly, Reassembly, etc.) Knowledge of Equipment, Structure, Materials, etc. (Includes Constructing, Repair, and Forging) Layout and Pattern Development (Includes Geometric Projection and Triangulation) Work requires standing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, reaching and often times working from ladders and scaffolds; often lifting objects weighing 50 lbs. and more; and often working in awkward and cramped positions for long periods of time. Performs work indoors and outdoors, from extreme hot to extreme cold, from clean areas to extra-hot and dirty areas. Incumbent is exposed to possible injury from burns, falls, strains, cuts and bruises.
