Service Director

The Service Director is an experienced professional with a strong background within the heavy equipment, agricultural equipment, or manufacturing industries with a conscious focus on continuous improvement. The director will need to be able to reduce costs, drive profitability, promote commonality, and communicate expectations in all areas related to Monroe Tractors' service departments. The Service Director must be a natural leader, positive, motivating, team-oriented, and have the highest level of ethical standards. This position will require a high degree of collaboration, the ability to quickly grasp a variety of different subjects, processes, and requires frequent travel within our branch network to support the branch teams. The Service Director must have the necessary experience mentoring and coaching service department managers, technicians, and service writers to improve operational efficiency, drive top-line revenue, and support and sustain a strong safety culture. The candidate best fit for this position must possess high emotional intelligence, have the aptitude to work within a decentralized corporate structure, and have the skill to collaborate with various teams. The Service Director acts in the capacity of a consultant, working to foster relationships in order to get buy-in with various stakeholders in order to improve a variety of metrics.

The Service Director will work out of our Corporate Office in Rochester, NY and will report to the President. However, consideration will be given to well qualified candidates not local to the Rochester, NY area but still within New York State.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate company core values in all interactions with customers, vendors, and associates. (Solve Problems, Embrace Teamwork, Work Hard & Always Do What’s Right)
• Coordinates with operations, sales and other functions to identify opportunities for improvement across the business system.
• Optimize Warranty recovery.
• Oversee Service Department Safety.
• Actively participate in annual budget creation and track performance year-over-year.
• Contributes to the development, implementation, administration and measurement of total quality management programs.
• Support the analysis, planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of key projects to help the branches achieve their financial and safety goals.
• Regularly interact with our technicians, building a trusting relationship and encouraging front line employee feedback to help identify opportunities for improvement.
• Promote best practices and standards (Common quoting/Estimates).
• Manage Training requirements, Monroe Tractor and manufacturer specific, to ensure compliance at all times.
• Responsible for managing “Rental Fleet” maintenance processes and encourages utmost attention to detail to provide reliable machinery to our customers and ensure longevity of the life of our equipment.
• Work with Marketing to develop promotional materials.
• Develop strong working relationships with our various OEM’s.

Required Qualifications

• At least 7 years of experience in construction equipment, agriculture, manufacturing or automotive service industry.
• At least 5 years of experience in a leadership position within the construction, agriculture, manufacturing or automotive industries.
• At least 2 years of experience working in larger/multi-location corporate environments, collaborating with a variety of team members system-wide.
• Strong work ethic.
• Ability to adjust strategies to accommodate various environments.
• Superior communication skills.
• A strong sense of urgency is required.
• At least 2 years of experience interpreting and evaluating numerical data, tables, charts, and graphs to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Strong understanding of Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and other basic business products used to organize and communicate efficiently.
• Experience using an ERP system to automate business processes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with CDK ERP system.
