CAMBRIA

Service Desk Automation Intern

Belle Plaine, MN Full time

Job Description:

Cambria’s internship program is a 12 week experience that successfully exposes interns to business need projects, professional development, assigned mentors and Cambria leaders. We help students identify their career interests and participate in two-way learning opportunities to develop their professional skill sets.

Prepare to immerse yourself in a paid full-time, summer internship program that strives to provide cross-disciplinary work experiences. In the end, you will leave feeling accomplished, valuable and having made a difference.

The Information Technology department is looking for a Service Desk Automation Intern to join their team in Belle Plaine, MN!

Position Summary:

We are looking for a tech-savvy intern to help us revolutionize how our company handles IT support. We aren’t just looking for someone to answer tickets—we are looking for a builder.

In this role, you will work directly within our Atlassian Ecosystem (Jira Service Management) to design, build, and deploy AI-powered workflows. You will get hands-on experience with the latest industry tools, including Atlassian Rovo, Virtual Agents, and Automation for Jira, turning manual processes into self-driving solutions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Complete and present a capstone project related to department business needs. This will include research, analysis, and presenting the overall findings and suggestions to peers and Cambria Leaders.

  • Build the "Brain": Help configure and train our Jira Virtual Agent (AI Chatbot) to recognize user intent and resolve issues automatically without human intervention.

  • Automate the Boring Stuff: Design and implement "Automation for Jira" rules (using smart values, branching logic, and webhooks) to route tickets, send alerts, and update statuses automatically.

  • Data Preparation for AI: Audit and optimize our Knowledge Base (Confluence). You will structure the documentation so our AI Agents (Rovo) can effectively "read" it and provide answers to employees.

  • Prompt Engineering: Experiment with and refine system prompts to ensure our AI Agents provide accurate, empathetic, and safe responses.

  • Analytics: Track the performance of your automations. How many hours did you save the team this week?

Qualifications & Skills:

  • The "Logic" Mindset: You enjoy breaking complex problems down into "If/Then/Else" logic flowcharts.

  • Tech Literacy: Familiarity with basic scripting concepts (Python, JavaScript, or JSON) is highly preferred—you don't need to be a developer, but you need to understand how APIs and data objects work.

  • Curiosity: You are the person who asks, "Why are we doing this manually when a computer could do it?"

  • Bonus Points:

    • Experience with Jira or Confluence (even as a user).

    • Hobbyist experience with LLMs (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) and prompt engineering.

Minimum Requirements:

Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a closely related technical field. Expected graduation date of 2026, 2027, and 2028.

Experience: Previous internship experience or relevant project-based work in a technical role is a plus.

Systems: .NET, Oracle PL/SQL & APEX, JavaScript, React, Python, GitLab

Additional Requirements:

Managerial Responsibilities: No

Travel Requirements: Limited travel locally (Eden Prairie, Belle Plaine and Le Sueur)

Physical Requirements: In-office position requiring telephone and computer use.  Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds for displays, samples and other marketing materials

Program Dates: May 18, 2025 - August 7, 2025; M-F; 40 hour work week

To ensure you don't miss this opportunity, it's recommended to apply as soon as possible. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until February 15, 2026, dependent on application volume, or until the position is filled.
