Northrop Grumman is seeking a Server/Network Support Tech. 2 to join our extended IT recurring services team. The position requires full-time onsite support in the Redondo Beach, CA R3 Data Center. In this role, the successful candidate will support the F-35 program with an emphasize on Unix (Solaris) and Linux system administration. In addition to the core System administration Unix/Linux function the candidate will be required to perform touch labor duties in the Redondo Beach R3 Data Center.  Outlined  services include cable management, basic repairs (Disk replacement) potential installation and termination and the disposal of servers. Overall, provide smart-hands on-site support for the F-35 program, including the capability to lift up to 40 lbs.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; OR an Associates degree with 0 years of experience
  • Position requires full time on-site in Redondo Beach R3 Data Center
  • Basic to intermediate understanding of Linux-RHEL, Solaris, VMWare, Windows,  enterprise implementation, migration, and hardware & Operating System maintenance
  • Basic experience with Sun Microsystems Servers and Dell PowerEdge Servers
  • Server Backup/Restore, patching, and cluster maintenance
  • Some understanding of the F-35 program related to the System Administration role and onboarding process
  • Enterprise Data Center hands on experience. Physical touch labor-  Server Rack, Network, Compute and Storage  smart hands.
  • Must have Security+ CE certification
  • RAID, direct attached Storage Area Network (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) management experience
  • Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain a Secret or Top Secret security clearance
  • Experience with Solaris Unix and RHEL Linux
  • Obtain and analyze internal and external customer requirements, recommend equipment and software as needed, and oversee system implementation and accreditation.
  • Navigate system configurations and implement enhancements that will improve the performance, reliability, and security of the system including installing, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management.
  • Develop and document technical processes and procedures as needed.
  • Ensure necessary administration tasks are completed, and support others as needed.
  • Analyze internal or external customer requirements and determine equipment and software requirements for solutions to problems by means of automated systems.
  • Recommend and implement system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system including installing, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management.
  • Provide backup and recovery services; manage file systems and disk space; manage virus protection on a routine basis
  • Make recommendations on how to purchase hardware, software, and system components.
  • Adhere to strict Information Systems security guidelines in all cases.

Primary Level Salary Range: $51,400.00 - $85,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
