Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a experienced Principal Project Manager/Sr Principal Project Manager. This position is located in Roy, UT or Huntsville, AL. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package

What You’ll Get To Do:

Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management. Control Account management responsibilities, inclusive of: Top level IMS and task management, Cost accounting and control, EAC management, Jira stories management, QBDs, internal tools, BOEs, Risk Management, and Variance Analysis Reporting. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Creates and maintains integrated program roadmaps, aligning engineering deliverables with strategic objectives and IMS schedule requirements.

  • Generates and tracks performance metrics.

  • Leads performance monitoring and analysis of program metrics, identifying risks, trends, and opportunities.

  • Conducts SWOT and risk analysis.

  • Develops Statements of Work (SOWs) defining scope, deliverables, timelines.

  • Develops SOPs and readiness frameworks to standardize workflows.

  • Standardizes SOPs to improve workflow consistency and regulatory compliance.

  • Develops training and compliance protocols to streamline workflows.

  • Contribute to developing new concepts, techniques, and standards; serve as the organization’s subject matter expert; perform complex tasks with demonstrated skill; and communicate technical approaches and findings clearly and effectively.

  • Develops innovative solutions to complex problems, applying ingenuity while ensuring each solution aligns with organizational objectives.

  • Execute complex assignments independently with minimal direction, exercising broad latitude to define objectives and determine appropriate approaches.

  • Make decisions that have long lasting impact on the organization’s direction, ensuring outcomes that avoid costly resource waste and protect customer satisfaction.

  • Consults with management and serves as the organization’s external spokesperson on major policy, plan, and objective matters, advising senior leadership and customers.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Principal Project Manager: Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related experience; master's degree and 3 years’ experience; PhD and 1 years’ experience or an additional 4 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.

  • At least 1 years of experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule. 

  • Sr Principal Project Manager :Bachelor's degree and 8 years of related experience; master's degree and 6 years’ experience; PhD and 4 years’ experience or an additional 4 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.

  • At least 4 years of experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule. 

  • Must be a U.S citizen and have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business need. 

  • Demonstrated track record/ experience in project management/ execution and closeout.

  • Skilled use of Microsoft Office Products (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Project). 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Project Management principles.

  • Capable of working with minimal direction, independently determines and develops technical objectives of assignments, and presents work upon completion for high level review. 

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to establish a solid working relationship with technical staff, peers, and customers.

  • Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • DoD Top Secret Security Clearance.

  • PMP Certification.

  • Experience with Primavera P6.

  • Experience on a DOD contract Business Management team.

  • Experience leading other Project Managers.

  • Certified Data Analytics Professional.

  • Data & Analytics: Tableau, Excel (Pivot Tables), MAXQDA.

  • Reliability, Availability & Maintainability and Cost (RAM-C) background or experience. 

  • Experience working with JIRA boards and maintaining the Confluence pages.

  • Exposure to Condition-based Maintenance Plus (CBM+) concepts and how it relates to RAM-C.

Primary Level Salary Range: $81,400.00 - $122,000.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $101,400.00 - $152,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
