Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal Software Engineer/ Sr Principal Software Engineer. This position can be located in Huntsville, AL or Roy, Utah and will support the Sentinel program.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.  This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package

What You'll Get to Do:

Design, develop, document, test and debug real time embedded software/system simulation. Conduct multidisciplinary research and

collaborate with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the

planning, design, development, and utilization of embedded systems

for safety and mission critical software. Ensure program mandated

software standards and compliance criteria are met. Understand

and can develop in a continuous integration tool chain environment

meeting technical and compliance requirements. Identify, analyze, and

adjudicate software deficiencies. Lead a team of software engineers

by mentoring, coaching, and providing technical expertise. Understand

project milestones/timeline and provide accurate reporting metrics. Perform trade studies to determine efficacy of software architecture and

design.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

This role can be filled at the Principal Software Engineer (T03) or Sr. Principal Software Engineer (T04) level.

Principal Software Engineer: 5 Years with Bachelors Degree from an accredited university; 3 Years with Masters; 1 Year with PhD or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree

• Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance within an investigation date within the last 6 years
• Must be able to be successfully screened for Enhanced Security Clearances, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs
• Experience developing complex software solutions using C++
• Experience programming in scripting languages in a UNIX environment (GoLang, Perl, Python, Bash, Ruby, Shell, Scripts)
• Hold or have the ability to obtain Security + CE (or other DoD 8570/8140 certification)

Sr. Principal Software Engineer: 8 Years with Bachelors Degree from an accredited university; 6 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree

• Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance within an investigation date within the last 6 years
• Must be able to be successfully screened for Enhanced Security Clearances, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs
• Experience developing complex software solutions using C++
• Experience programming in scripting languages in a UNIX environment (GoLang, Perl, Python, Bash, Ruby, Shell, Scripts)
• Hold or have the ability to obtain Security + CE (or other DoD 8570/8140 certification)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience with developing CI/CD workflows and utilizing tools such as Nexus, Maven, Jira, GitLab, and Release Management
• Experience with configuration management tools, i.e., Git, GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, others Familiarity with branching strategies, gated commits, source-controlled management, etc.
• Familiarity with the principle of DevSecOps
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and/or other cloud orchestration tools and technologies
• Experience with Podman, Buildah, Skopeo and/or other container tools and technologies
• Familiarity with Atlassian Tool Suite Jira, Confluence Familiarity with using a Nexus Repository
• Familiarity with security coding standard best practices, static and dynamic scanning tools, i.e., SonarQube, Fortify, Coverity, PCLint, Anchore, Nexus Lifecycle, etc.
• Familiarity with Agile Development

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $163,200.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $203,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
