Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Sr Principal Systems Engineer (T-04) for Post Flight Analysis within Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A). This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program.
What You’ll Get To Do:
As a Post Flight Analysis Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining analysis tools and conducting post flight analysis.
Candidates should be knowledgeable in one or more of the following areas:
Optical data processing, radar metric and signature processing, orbital mechanics, flight dynamics, aerodynamics, statistical mathematics, flight control, and guidance and navigation.
A successful candidate would be familiar with one or more of the following scripting/programming languages: MATLAB, Fortran, and C++
Specific duties to include, but are not limited to the following:
Optical data processing for a flight test vehicle
Metric and signature radar processing for a flight test vehicle
Modify existing post-flight analysis tools written in MATLAB and C++
Develop modernized tools based on legacy Fortran tools
Flight test data analysis to include Best Estimate of Trajectory generation, GPS signal processing and refinement, and RV accuracy analysis
System performance assessment, requirements analysis, verification and validation, design, development, and integration
Create technical reports and present analysis results
Interface with internal and external customers
Participation in a collaborative Agile environment
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) discipline and 8 years of related experience; 6 years of experience with a Master of Science degree; 4 year experience with a PhD
Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years, with the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
3+ years of experience in modeling, simulation, and analysis
2+ years demonstrated experience with optical data processing
Experience with one or more of the following languages: C++, Fortran, MATLAB
Preferred Qualifications
Active Top Secret Clearance
Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
Experience developing an analysis toolset from scratch
Experience with one or more of the following knowledge areas: radar processing, optics processing, ICBM flight dynamics, targeting, orbital mechanics, reentry dynamics, Object Oriented Programing (OOP)
Experience with version control management software similar to Git
Experience with software documentation development, testing (unit or functional), or Verification & Validation (V&V)
Demonstrated expertise soliciting input from internal and external stakeholders, synthesizing data, and communicating complex results to technical and non-technical stakeholders at various levels
Advanced use of standard Microsoft Office products to include development tools

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Primary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
