Northrop Grumman's Defense Systems sector is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Manager 2 to join our Defense Systems team supporting the U.S. Air Force Sentinel program. The applicant will be responsible for the design, development, production, and deployment of launch-equipment hardware and systems for each weapons system facility. Working in a dynamic, people-focused environment, the engineer will collaborate closely with users, customers, and fellow engineers to deliver high performance mechanical solutions for the Sentinel program. This position is located in Roy, Utah.

This position is a dual-hatted role that involves both individual contributions as a senior engineer in the Mechanical domain (80%), as well as people leadership in a functional management homeroom (20%).
Key Responsibilities:
Primary role is to serve as a mechanical designer for mechanical systems (mechanisms) design on a major Northrop Grumman Defense Systems program
Research, plan, design, and develop mechanical/aerospace products for aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicles, missiles, ground vehicles and associated ground and test equipment
Develop CAD models and 3D model based drawings using Siemens NX and Teamcenter
Verify specifications and designs through modeling and simulation, test data processing, and performance analysis
Support all phases of the systems lifecycle including design, drawings, fabrication, test, installation, operation and maintenance
Design of components/systems, and preliminary/sizing analysis for both stress and dynamic analysis of aerospace structures.
Preparation and presentation of reports, briefings, design documents (drawings and specifications) and interface with customers.
Attend internal program meetings, customer technical exchanges, and supplier briefings; present design status during formal milestone reviews
Ensure team members have the required training, tools, and access to perform design engineering responsibilities.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in STEM field plus 8 years of experience, or Master's Degree in STEM field plus 6 years of experience
Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
5+ years of experience with CAD modeling (Siemens NX preferred)
5+ Experience in mechanical engineering that includes a background in mechanical systems
Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision, function in a dynamic environment, and be flexible to changing direction
Proficient written and verbal communication skills when conveying technical content
Knowledge of GD&T, materials selection, and manufacturing processes
Demonstrated ability to lead design teams and drive technical decisions
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
ICBM Experience
Experience with Siemens NX and PLM
Control Account Manager training and/or experience managing programs or subcontracts in an Earned Value framework
Familiarity with the ASME Y14.x suite of engineering drawing standards
Experience in creating a Product Definition Package (PDP) or PDP like products
Familiar with common engineering standards (ISO, ASME, Mil Spec, NAS, etc.)
Ability to work closely with multiple functional organizations (Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Field Operations, etc.)

Primary Level Salary Range: $126,600.00 - $189,800.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
