Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Mechanical Engineer/ Principal Mechanical Engineer.  This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program.

This position may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

What You Will Get to Do:

  • Understanding of engineering principles, processes and applications (engineering standards, configuration management, material review board, process control, tooling, facilities, etc.)

  • Experience integrating multiple engineering specialties and stakeholders to achieve and comply with program requirements

  • Combination of knowledge and experience in the majority of the following areas: complex integration and qualification/acceptance testing , product development, including mechanical design and analysis, materials, electrical schematic design, electrical analysis, Radio Frequency (RF) components, and ordnance integration

  • Ability to communicate/collaborate and achieve consensus with groups from diverse organizations and backgrounds

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities

Position may be filled as either an Engineer (level 2) or Principal Engineer (level 3) depending on candidate experience and qualifications.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Mechanical Engineer (level 2) : Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM field and with 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree with 0 years of experience

  • Principal Mechanical Engineer (level 3): Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM field with 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree with 3 years of relevant experience; PhD with 1 year of relevant experience

  • Must be a US Citizen

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years at the time of application

  • Ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP)

  • Experience performing CAD modeling with design tools such as Siemens NX or similar

  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite of tools - Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word

  • Experience performing mechanical design efforts on MILCON, major infrastructure/building projects, or Aerospace and Defense programs.

  • Ability to understand and interpret requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must be able to work independently, function in a dynamic environment, and be flexible to changing direction

  • Excellent interpersonal, written communication, and presentation skills, including the ability to clearly and succinctly communicate complex concepts

  • Exposure to missiles program requirements & with propulsion

  • Proficient with 3D design/2D drawing CAD in NX

  • Proficient with PDM and/or CPLM

  • Proficient with GD&T and ASME Y14.5-2009

Primary Level Salary Range: $72,100.00 - $108,100.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
