Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a CFD Aeronautical Engineer. This position is located in Roy, Utah and supports Sentinel and Advanced Programs (AP).
What You Will Get To Do:
As an Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Aeronautical Engineer on the Aero/Fluids team you will be responsible for supporting the Aero/Fluids functional homeroom manager in guiding the execution and ensuring quality of the Aero/Fluids teamwork products across Sentinel and Advanced Programs.
Position Responsibilities Include:
Conduct high-fidelity computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations to accurately predict missile aerodynamic performance under various flight regimes.
All aspects of the CFD process which include: cleaning up geometry, making meshes, setting up boundary conditions, monitoring solution convergence and post processes results.
Ensure the quality of Aero/Fluids team products meets the technical excellence standards
Collaborate closely with other relevant disciplines/IPTs, e.g. Flight Analysis, Structures, Propulsion, Integration and test, etc.
Communicate effectively and clearly; present technical approaches and findings to customers, executive management, and other program stakeholders.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
You Will Bring These Qualifications:
CFD Aeronautical Engineer: 2 Years with Bachelors in Science; 1 year with Masters; 0 Years with PhD. or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree
Active In Scope DoD Secret Security Clearance with a re-investigation within 6 years
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Deep understanding of fluid dynamics principles, aerodynamic theory, and numerical methods used in various types of simulation (Subsonic, supersonic, hypersonic, and rarefied flow.).
2 years of experience with commercial CFD codes such as CFD++, StarCCM+, or ANSYS. Fluent including meshing, running cases, and post processing results in Tecplot.
Strong communication skills and ability to work across IPTs.
Experience using CAD software to clean up geometry for CFD.
Demonstrated technical writing experience in both authoring and reviewing formal analysis documentation.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
These Qualifications Are Nice To Have:
Master's Degree in Aeronautical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering
Understanding of ablation, boundary layer transition, acoustics, plasma and other complex reacting flow phenomenon.
1 year of experience developing aerodynamic models, tools, databases using Matlab, Python, C++ or similar for integration into 3/6DOF simulations.
1 year of experience with analytical aerodynamic design tools, e.g. Missile DATCOM or similar.
Experience analyzing wind tunnel test data and flight test results for verification and validation of models.
Demonstrated experience working with Linux and Windows based HPC's for aero/fluids work.
Involvement with the planning and execution of physical aerodynamics related testing applications such as wind tunnels or flight test validation including scheduling, test matrix and development of test items.
Analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
Prior exposure to defense projects or working within regulated environments is highly desirable.
