Senir Project Manager, HR IT PMO

Functions Technology (GFT) is part of RBC's Technology and Operations division. Our clients represent Risk, Finance, HR, CAO, Audit, Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime, Capital Markets, Personal and Commercial Banking and Wealth Management. We also lead the development of digital tools and platforms to enhance collaboration.

This Senior Project Manager role will drive the delivery of HR Large programs/projects with focus on strategic planning and implementation of systems migration / vendor systems implementation supporting out HR Business Partners for our SAP payroll, compensation and benefit platform to address end of life of the technology platform. 

The role requires extensive experience in the end-to end delivery of technical solutions using cutting-edge AI tools, navigation of stakeholder relationships at all levels, vendor management and rigor in project health reporting across this portfolio of work.  This leader will partner with the Director of the PMO and peer group to evolve a best-in-class community of practice to elevate delivery excellence for the HR & CLAO IT organization.

What will you do?

  • Leverage cutting-edge AI tools (i.e. Helios, RBC Copilot and SAP Joule) in strategic planning and enablement of technical solutions, including reverse engineering of business logics / calculations from legacy SAP code, automation of RBC’s custom code, and develop test cases and training documentation
  • Drive the project through the end-to-end SDLC in adherence to the Enterprise Project Management Framework, leveraging standard project management tools, processes and best practices
  • Drive rigor and simplicity in project health routines, ensuring project status reports are up to date and accurate including financials, issues, risks and key decisions etc.
  • Collaborate within the PMO team to evolve standard project management tools, templates and practices / routines (i.e. project/portfolio reporting). 

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have

  • Minimum of 5 years as a Senior Project / Program Manager, planning and executing on high complexity, large scale technology projects / programs
  • Expertise with systems migration of HR applications / vendor system implementations from start to finish (i.e. SAP, Workday), developing and driving vendor implementation strategies and managing the vendor relationship through the project
  • Highly proficient in project scheduling and risk-based planning, scope change management, budgeting and project costs management, relationship management, resource leveling, risk management, conflict resolution
  • Lead KPI / success metric creation, tracking / reporting, trend analysis, issues resolution and escalation
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively deliver an impactful story that resonates and engages key stakeholders at all levels; excellent data visualization skills
  • Excellent executive presence, with the ability to effectively communicate project / portfolio health and financial performance to senior leaders, surfacing risks/issues that require leadership attention / support to mitigate
  • Experience working with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies
  • Strong attention to detail and business acumen / organizational awareness, project governance and contract negotiation
  • Advanced skills in standard project management tools:  MIS, Planview SaaS, MS Project, JIRA, Confluence, Excel and PowerPoint

Nice to Have

  • Project Management/Scrum Master certificate/training
  • Previous experience in delivering large SAP HR programs/initiatives
  • Experience in HR, BMCC, Procurement and CRE
  • Workforce Strategy or Organizational Behavior experience
