Accountabilities:
Channel Strategy & Leadership
Own and drive strategy, vision, and growth plan for the Financial Institutions channel.
Define channel segmentation, coverage models, and go-to-market priorities in partnership with Sales Leadership.
Establish clear strategic priorities, performance expectations, and governance for the channel.
Leverage data and analytics to inform channel strategy, coverage optimization, partner prioritization, and investment decisions.
Translate enterprise objectives into actionable channel initiatives executed through DVP leadership.
Sales & Distribution Oversight
Provide executive oversight of sales performance, pipeline health, and market share growth across the channel.
Ensure consistent execution of Athene’s value proposition across FI partners while allowing for customization by segment.
Lead, coach, and develop Divisional Vice Presidents, ensuring strong leadership, accountability, and succession planning.
Strategic Partnerships & Executive Engagement
Serve as the executive owner for Athene’s Financial Institution relationships, driving alignment and long-term partnership value.
Lead and participate in senior-level negotiations related to strategic partnerships, distribution agreements, and enterprise-level initiatives.
Represent Athene at key industry forums, conferences, and executive-level partner meetings.
Cross-Functional Integration
Act as the central point of integration between the FI channel and Product, Investments, Marketing, Operations, Legal, and Compliance.
Influence product development, pricing considerations, and platform strategy based on FI channel needs and market trends.
Ensure alignment of operational, marketing, and training resources to support FI growth objectives.
Financial Management & Governance
Own the FI channel budget, including resource allocation, travel and entertainment oversight, and ROI measurement.
Partner with Sales and HR leadership to design, implement, and oversee compensation plans that align performance incentives with channel strategy, growth objectives, and risk management.
Establish performance metrics and dashboards to monitor channel effectiveness and strategic progress.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory, licensing, and internal policy requirements.
Talent & Organization Development
Partner with Sales and HR leadership to attract, develop, and retain top leadership talent within the FI channel.
Build leadership bench strength and succession depth across the FI channel to support near-term and long-term scalability and continuity.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Experience:
15+ years of experience in financial services distribution, with significant experience in the Financial Institutions channel.
7+ years of senior leadership experience managing leaders of leaders.
Deep expertise in annuities and retirement solutions.
Proven track record of building and executing channel-level strategy.
Strong executive presence with demonstrated success influencing senior internal and external stakeholders.
State insurance license required.
FINRA registrations (Series 6, 63, 26) and Life & Health licenses required or ability to obtain.
Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred.
Travel expected but generally less than DVP role (e.g., ~50%).
Annual Salary for this role is market competitive. Actual salary for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Depending on the role, a discretionary bonus plan or variable sales incentive may be included.
