Major Responsibilities:

  • Lead enterprise-wide strategic planning and execution to support integrated, patient-centered care delivery in both fee-for-service and risk-based models.  
  • Advance physician alignment strategies to foster engagement, accountability, and shared governance across the enterprise.  
  • Develop and implement operational strategies for clinical service lines, ensuring alignment with enterprise goals and local market needs.  
  • collaborates with and advances Best Place to Care initiatives to continue to improve physician engagement and retention. Is key to providing transparent and effective communication to clinicians and fostering an all-inclusive culture 
  • Oversee operational performance and standardization across hundreds of clinics and service sites, delivering millions of patient visits annually.  
  • Optimize medical group performance across clinical outcomes, access, operational efficiency, and financial sustainability.  
  • Lead efforts to standardize administrative and call pay compensation for physicians and APPs, promoting equity, transparency, and market alignment.  
  • Monitor and maintain physician performance measures (productivity, quality, patient and referring physician satisfaction, etc.).  
  • Responsible for a multi-billion-dollar annual operating budget and performance across all clinical settings.  
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce variation, and optimize cost structures across clinics and centralized functions.  
  • Develop and/or recommend operating and capital budgets and control expenditures within approved budget objectives.  
  • Holds divisional responsibility for assigned business segments across designated geography, including revenue-generating accountability and profit and loss (P&L) management for the segment or enterprise. 
  • Provides strategic direction with a direct link to organizational function and enterprise business strategies for clinical services. 
  • Translate division and organizational objectives into strategic business plans for the area or sub-function, ensuring alignment with long-term enterprise goals. 
  • Sets and is accountable for financial plans and goals, with strategic decisions that have a long-term impact on the business segment or function. 
  • Define and implement enterprise-wide hiring standards for physicians and APPs to support consistent evaluation and integration.  
  • Manage organizational talent through performance management, succession planning, and development.  
  • Oversee the recruitment and acquisition of new physicians, ensuring the recruitment and retention of the best physicians, APPs, and clinical care teams who positively contribute to culture, quality, and strategic goals.  
  • Develops deep knowledge on physician and APP compensation models, understanding the regulatory and compliance requirements. Is a key leader of the physician and APP compensation committees across the division 
  • Monitor trends in patient experience performance and collaborate with appropriate leaders to optimize improvements.  
  • Serve as the medical group's executive sponsor for patient experience, achieving top-decile performance across millions of encounters.  
  • Champion clinician workforce growth, credentialing efficiency, and flexible work models, while promoting equity, access, and innovation in care delivery.  
  • Build and maintain a physician-led governance and management structure that functions as a high-performance medical group to assist in achieving its strategic objectives.  
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, including ambulatory licensure, CLIA, and other accreditation standards.  
  • Reinforce Medical Group policies and service expectations, and serve as Chair, Member, or Physician Champion of various compliance, policy, enhancement, and technology committees.  
  • Collaborate with service line leaders, region presidents, and hospital executives to ensure alignment of clinical strategy and execution across all geographies.  
  • Serve as enterprise liaison to national service lines, ensuring structural and operational alignment across the clinical enterprise 
  • Supports and identifies current and emerging physician leaders to engage and participate in leadership and development programs to advance physician leadership across the enterprise  
  • Advance digital health tools and consumer-facing innovations that enhance access, satisfaction, and loyalty.  
  • Participate in strategic committees related to clinical transformation, supporting the evolution of care redesign and clinical specialties and sub-specialty areas within the system.  
  • Drive integration and innovation by partnering with internal service lines and external organizations to enable seamless care delivery.   
  • Direct strategic facility and space planning, optimizing millions of square feet of clinic space and resources across the enterprise.  
  • Oversee centralized administrative operations including triage, scheduling, implementation services, physician contracting, and compliance.  
  • Lead integration and optimization efforts for operations across the division, including staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation.  

Minimum Job Requirements 

Education

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution. 

Certification / Registration / License 

  • Board certification in a relevant specialty is typically required. 

Experience

  • Typically requires 15 years of relevant management experience 
  • Experience managing large teams of physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs).  
  • Experience with clinical operations, quality improvement, and patient experience initiatives.  
  • Prior responsibility for budgetary oversight and strategic planning.  
  • Experience working within complex, matrixed organizations and collaborating with executive leadership
