Role summary:
As a VAT compliance assistant at Flowserve, you will become part of our VAT team located in our Budapest office where our Business Service Center (BSC) is also located with approximately 200 colleagues. Our VAT team is technology oriented and supports various projects in addition to our VAT compliance activity across EMA.
Your role:
- Review VAT returns, EC Sales List, Local Purchase and Sales Listings (in the relevant countries), potentially Intrastat with the use of VAT Compliance Software (from Big4) and review reconciliations prepared by VAT compliance assistants.
- Assist your supervisor with updating the status update tracking files, monthly VAT compliance planning file and continuously improving VAT compliance processes and desktop procedures in EMA.
- Support the VAT compliance transition/migration from local sites to the VAT team.
- Communicate with local controllers, BSC Finance Teams and local businesses about VAT compliance deliverables and VAT related queries.
- Support your supervisor on queries received from other Flowserve teams relating to daily VAT questions, tax audits, process improvements or other projects relating to VAT aspects.
- Support the implementation of tax technology tools (with high focus on VAT compliance tools), ERP implementations (especially SAP S4) and the change management of such tools and ERPs (various ERPs, including Oracle and SAP versions).
Your profile:
- A college/university degree in finance/accounting
- 2 -5 years of relevant experience at a BSC or at a consulting firm (Big4 or other large accounting firms)
- Strong ability to gather, organize and analyze data
- Good troubleshooting skills
- Accurate and highly organized with a focus on details
- Experience with ERPs and preferably with tax technology tools
- Fluent in English both in writing and verbally, German language skills are a plus
- Continuous improvement mindset, able to flexibly cope with process changes
