Analyze & Decide: Evaluate applications, reports, and coverage requests—pairing analytical firepower with underwriting finesse to determine risk acceptability within guidelines and regulations.
Negotiate and Win: Skillfully negotiate account pricing and coverage with agents within your authority, balancing profitability with agent and customer satisfaction.
Own Your Portfolio: Manage and develop a diverse group of agency partners through field visits, service, and strategic pursuit of business opportunities.
Juggle Priorities: Analyze your workload, set priorities, and manage your desk to ensure agents’ needs are met—delivering quality service every time.
Elevate Others: Serve as an underwriting subject matter expert, sharing your expertise with colleagues and helping train and mentor the next generation of underwriters.

What You Need to Bring:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, and experience.
At least 4+ years of experience underwriting workers’ compensation insurance or equivalent education, training, and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
CPCU, CIC, ARM, or other top insurance designations
Valid Texas driver’s license

Strong book and agency management skills
Analytical and creative problem-solving abilities
Strong technical grasp of worker’s compensation insurance, underwriting, risk selection, pricing, and regulatory compliance
Knowledge of insurance contract language and state regulations

The base pay range is based on the market evaluation of the job and may include pay for multiple levels. Individual base pay within the range is determined by a variety of factors, including experience, performance, education, and demonstration of skills and competencies required for each role. Your recruiter can discuss the full value of our total compensation package with you, including our generous bonus plans and flex-hybrid work model.
Base Pay Range: $48.07 - $59.38 Per HourTexas Mutual’s flex-hybrid schedule allows you to bring your best self to work by working remotely and collaborating in the office based on business needs. All Texas Mutual employees are required to have Texas residency and travel to their designated office as needed.
