Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Underwriter to join our dynamic team. This role will focus on underwriting new and renewal business within either Financial Lines or Professional Liability. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of sound risk assessment, portfolio management, and delivering superior service to brokers and clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite and analyze new and renewal submissions for Financial Lines or Professional Liability accounts, in line with company underwriting guidelines and risk appetite.
  • Develop and maintain strong broker and client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and ambassador for Twin Maples Specialty.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions to achieve profitable growth and retention targets.
  • Collaborate across underwriting, claims, actuarial, and product teams to identify and address emerging risks and market opportunities.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, analyze trends, and recommend adjustments to strategy as appropriate.
  • Assist in mentoring and training junior underwriters and support staff as needed.
  • Participate in industry events and maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal, regulatory, and market developments.
  • Contribute to product development and process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; advanced professional designations (e.g., CPCU, RPLU) a plus.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of underwriting experience in Financial Lines (including D&O, E&O, EPL, Cyber) and/or Professional Liability.
  • Deep knowledge of insurance products, coverage terms, and market dynamics.
  • Exceptional analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to engage effectively with brokers, clients, and colleagues.
  • Strong organizational abilities and capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in underwriting and rating platforms, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
