Role Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Technology Manager to lead the Wires API Services team. This role involves managing API development and integration, overseeing cloud architecture, and driving strategic initiatives for wire payment systems. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in designing resilient, scalable, and high-performance systems using reactive architectural principles, combined with leadership qualities that foster innovation and accountability.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and lead a team of developers and architects working on Wires API Services.
Define and implement enterprise architecture strategies for API and cloud solutions.
Oversee AWS-based infrastructure and services; Google Cloud experience is a bonus.
Ensure designs consider resilience, scalability, and performance optimization using reactive architecture.
Apply design thinking principles, including reactive architectures, failure mode/effects analysis (chaos engineering), SRE practices, and zero-ops strategies.
Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to align solutions with organizational goals.
Foster a culture of critical thinking, curiosity, adaptability, and contextual awareness.
Communicate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
Demonstrate accountability, ownership, and decision-making in complex scenarios.
Lead with empathy to build strong, collaborative teams.
Qualifications:
10+ years of work experience in IT and BS/BA or MBA/MS in computer science, engineering, or information systems.
Proven experience in technology leadership and team management.
Strong expertise in AWS, API design, and enterprise architecture.
Knowledge of reactive architectural principles, event-driven design patterns, and resilience engineering.
Familiarity with SRE practices, chaos engineering, and zero-ops concepts.
Google Cloud experience is an asset.
AWS certification preferred.
Familiarity with wire payment systems and ISO standards is a plus.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
