As a Senior Technology Engineer within PNC's Technology organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA, Cleveland, OH, Birmingham, AL, Denver, CO or Dallas, TX.
As PNC continues its transformation to remain competitive in a rapidly evolving financial services landscape, the adoption of Generative AI (GenAI) and AI Agents will continue to accelerate. This role will be a key contributor within PNC’s GenAI organization, supporting the design, development, testing, validation, and ongoing maintenance of AI Agents and agent-based solutions.
The Senior Technology Engineer will play a critical role in the high visibility initiatives focused on AI transformation across the software development lifecycle, ensuring GenAI solutions meet enterprise standards for quality, policy adherence, testing rigor, and operational readiness. This role is ideal for a senior-level engineer with deep expertise in development and testing, and a strong interest in advancing AI-native capabilities within a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, test, validate, and maintain GenAI Agents and agent-based systems, including onboarding of new Agents and integration with existing PNC technology platforms
• Lead and execute testing and validation activities within the GenAI organization, ensuring AI solutions comply with enterprise policies, procedures, and control standards
• Develop and execute testing strategies across the full lifecycle (development, integration, deployment, and post-deployment validation)
• Perform code testing, code validation, and code quality assessments, with specific attention to model behavior, outputs, and reliability
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to GenAI workflows, testing frameworks, and agent execution
• Partner closely with engineering, architecture, risk, and governance teams to tie testing outcomes directly to policies and procedures
• Contribute to the evolution of AI-native engineering practices within lines of business and help lead change as AI capabilities scale
• Support continuous improvement of quality engineering (QE) practices as they relate to business value, risk management, and AI adoption
• Document testing results, validation approaches, and compliance evidence clearly and effectively for audit and governance purposes
Key Skills & Qualifications:
• Strong experience in software development and testing, including hands-on testing of code, validation of outputs, and quality engineering practices
• Experience working within complex, regulated environments where policy and procedure adherence is required
• Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle (development, testing, deployment, and validation)
• Familiarity with GenAI concepts, AI Agents, or AI-enabled systems (direct GenAI experience preferred but not required)
• Ability to troubleshoot complex systems and clearly articulate technical issues and resolutions
• Hands-on experience with or exposure to:
○ XRAY
○ QFaaS / VFaas
○ PyDAT
○ MTSA
○ TSR
• Experience validating systems against enterprise testing frameworks and quality standards
• Background in technical architecture or quality engineering with demonstrated depth in testing
• Understanding of QE principles and how testing directly supports business outcomes and risk reduction
Familiarity with CMF‑P (Change Management Framework – Policies and Procedures) or similar governance frameworks

- Provides a systematic analysis on the most complex client requirements within the traceability framework and resolves any functional problems encountered.
- Oversees the quality of complex project deliverables while ensuring that they are in compliance with relevant standards and processes.

Pay Transparency
Base Salary: $65,000.00 – $171,925.00
Salaries may vary based on geographic location, market data and on individual skills, experience, and education. This role is incentive eligible with the payment based upon company, business and/or individual performance.
