As a Senior Technical Program Manager within the Product - Engineering Platform organization at Qualys, you will drive the execution of critical platform-wide initiatives focused on stability, scalability, reliability, and operational excellence. You will partner closely with Product, Platform Engineering, Infrastructure, SRE, and multiple product engineering teams to deliver programs that optimize the shared platform powering Qualys products.
This role requires strong technical depth, systems thinking, and the ability to align multiple engineering teams toward common platform outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Program Planning & Execution
- Define and own platform-wide programs that improve system stability, performance, scalability, and availability.
- Create and execute detailed quarterly and multi-quarter program plans, aligning engineering roadmaps across multiple product and platform teams.
- Drive on-time delivery of cross-cutting initiatives such as platform modernization, tech debt reduction, reliability improvements, and operational readiness.
Cross-Functional Engineering Alignment
- Act as the central coordination point between Platform Engineering, Infrastructure, SRE, Product Management, and multiple product engineering teams.
- Align priorities, dependencies, and delivery timelines to ensure platform changes optimize outcomes across all consuming products.
- Facilitate engineering forums, sprint reviews, and execution cadences to drive shared ownership and accountability.
Platform Stability, Risk & Dependency Management
- Proactively identify risks and dependencies impacting platform stability and availability; develop mitigation and rollback strategies.
- Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and follow-through for platform incidents, ensuring corrective and preventive actions are tracked to completion.
- Translate technical risks, outages, and architectural constraints into clear business impact and prioritization recommendations.
Metrics, Reporting & Operational Visibility
- Define platform KPIs and success metrics, including availability, performance, reliability, deployment health, and operational toil.
- Design, automate, and maintain dashboards using tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Tableau, APIs, SQL, or Python.
- Provide concise, data-driven status updates and executive-ready reporting on platform health and delivery progress.
Process, Tooling & Execution Excellence
- Configure and optimize program and execution tooling (JIRA, Confluence, Salesforce as applicable) to support platform-scale delivery.
- Drive adoption of consistent execution standards, Agile practices, and release governance across platform and product teams.
- Continuously improve workflows to reduce friction, increase delivery predictability, and improve engineering productivity.
Documentation & Knowledge Management
- Own the information architecture for platform documentation in Confluence.
- Enforce a documentation-first culture where platform designs, operational processes, runbooks, and SLAs are clearly defined, current, and accessible.
- Ensure platform knowledge is scalable and not siloed across teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 8+ years of experience in Technical Program Management or Project Management within engineering-driven organizations.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, platform engineering concepts, and the software development life cycle (SDLC).
- Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies and engineering execution tools (JIRA, Confluence, etc.).
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills.
- Proven ability to operate effectively in complex, fast-paced, and highly interdependent engineering environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting large-scale platforms serving multiple products or services.
- Familiarity with SRE concepts, reliability engineering, incident management, and operational readiness.
- Ability to query data and generate insights using SQL and/or basic scripting (Python).
- Experience driving platform optimization initiatives such as performance tuning, capacity planning, or tech debt reduction.
