Senior Technical Program Manager

The Role

We are seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager to lead programs involving AI foundational infrastructure and optimized developer workflows.  As a Technical Program Manager (TPM) within the Autonomous Vehicle Cloud and Developer Infrastructure (CDI) team at GM, you will play a critical role in driving the development, testing, and delivery of complex, large-scale traditional and AI enhanced infrastructure to accelerate the delivery of next-generation autonomy software. 

 

You will be responsible for running project timelines, resources, and scope across multiple teams, ensuring alignment among all partners, and driving projects efficiently. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership, and critical thinking to innovate and drive the team toward achieving GM's goals, as well as a strong understanding of developer experience, automation, and development ecosystems. 

 

What You’ll Do 

  • Partner with Technical Leads of customer engineering teams to turn their developer requirements and technical specs into achievable implementation roadmaps, including planning milestones and identifying cross-team dependencies 

  • Drive the formulation and review of department roadmaps and objectives on a quarterly and monthly cadence 

  • Work with Engineering Managers to ensure teams take on a balanced assignment of critical initiatives, iterative improvements, and proactive engineering excellence investments. Support calculation of team capacity vs estimated workload, and ensure teams can deliver on their commitments 

  • Define and track KPIs, program metrics, and validation milestones to ensure timely delivery of engineering achievements 

  • Work with Technical Leads on design decisions, and contribute to the department design reviews to ensure we continue to raise our technical standards 

  • Ensure smooth execution of programs and continuously improve execution over time 

  • Proactively identify risks and blockers across software and operations—and drive mitigation plans in real time 

  • Lead program reviews with technical and executive stakeholders across AI Developer Experience teams 

  • Establish confidence from partner teams to continuously minimize distractions or conflicts and push groups to improve their output 
     

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) 

  • Proven experience in technical program management, especially within the developer experience and IT service fields. 

  • Experience implementing and delivering developer experience or engineering productivity tooling and automation in a production environment. 

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and executive leadership 

  • Strong systems thinking with the ability to connect high-level architecture to on-the-ground execution details. 

  • Deep familiarity with automation and CI/CD program delivery; and technical development workflows 

  • Familiarity with project tracking and status reporting tools like Jira and Confluence. 

  • Passionate about AV technology and its impact on the world. 

  • 3+ years of experience in complex technical systems, demonstrating a strong track record of successful project delivery. 

  • BS in Computer Science or related field OR equivalent work experience. 
     

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications) 

  • Knowledge of software development pipelines, shell scripting, and CI/CD systems. 

  • Cloud computing capacity planning, cost, and supportability best practices. 

  • 5+ years of experience in complex technical systems, demonstrating a strong track record of successful project delivery. 

 

Hybrid: This role is Hybrid if you live within a 50-mile radius of Sunnyvale; you are expected to report to that location three times a week. This position can be considered Remote if the successful candidate is in the Seattle, Washington area.

Compensation: 

  • The expected base compensation for this role is: $110,000 - $168,900. Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position. 

  • Bonus Potential:  An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
