Company Description
Zayo provides mission-critical bandwidth to the world’s most impactful companies, fueling the innovations that are transforming our society. Zayo’s 141,000-mile network in North America and Europe includes extensive metro connectivity to thousands of buildings and data centers. Zayo’s communications infrastructure solutions include dark fiber, private data networks, wavelengths, Ethernet, and dedicated Internet access. Zayo serves wireless and wireline carriers, media, tech, content, finance, healthcare and other large enterprises.
Zayo is seeking a Senior Technical Product Manager to drive the delivery of software that enables our transport and infrastructure product portfolio—including optical transport, point-to-point services, and dark fiber–adjacent offerings.
This role is responsible for making Capital-P Product strategy buildable in the real world. You will work directly with Product to shape scope, sequencing, and feasibility, while partnering deeply with engineering teams to deliver reliable, scalable software that supports how transport services are quoted, ordered, provisioned, and supported.
This is a technical, authoritative TPM role. You do not own the product roadmap, but you are the person who understands the technical, business, and operational implications well enough to define how work should be executed, what tradeoffs exist, and what is realistically deliverable.
You will operate in customer-facing and operational systems, with meaningful exposure to customer-facing ordering and support experiences. Success in this role requires strong system-level thinking, comfort with complexity, and the ability to engage credibly with engineers, network teams, product leaders, and customers.
What You’ll Do
Serve as the Senior Technical Product Manager for software supporting transport and infrastructure products.
Partner directly with Capital-P Product to:
Shape scope and sequencing
Define what is feasible and when
Propose alternatives when requirements conflict with technical or operational reality
Own delivery execution for transport-related initiatives across multiple software engineering teams.
Translate product intent into clear, technically grounded requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
Act as the primary technical interface between Product, Engineering, Network Operations, and Sales Engineering.
Drive delivery of software supporting:
Order orchestration
Provisioning and activation workflows
APIs and workflow engines
Transport-related quoting and ordering experiences
Review and challenge technical designs as needed, particularly where automation meets physical network constraints.
Understand and account for automation limitations tied to physical infrastructure, even when working in software systems.
Apply pragmatic Agile practices to drive delivery—prioritizing outcomes over ceremony.
Lead UAT and release readiness conversations
Participate in customer and carrier escalations when necessary, bringing technical clarity and ownership.
Present tradeoffs, risks, and delivery realities to leadership with confidence and clarity.
Use data directly (queries, logs, metrics) to validate assumptions and inform decisions.
Leverage AI tools to accelerate analysis, documentation, and problem-solving where appropriate.
Complete other responsibilities as required.
What Success Looks Like
Transport product initiatives that are delivered predictably and responsibly
Product ideas translated into software that works within real-world physical and operational constraints
Engineering teams that trust the requirements and direction you provide
Fewer late-stage surprises caused by overlooked system or infrastructure realities
Clear alignment between Product intent and delivery execution
Strong working relationships across Product, Engineering, Network Ops, and Sales Engineering
A reputation for ownership when things get complex or messy
What You Bring
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in technical product management, platform product management, or similar system-heavy roles.
Experience delivering software for infrastructure-oriented or network-adjacent product lines.
Strong programming knowledge required: ability to read and reason about code, query databases, understand automation logic, and communicate effectively with engineers.
Comfort working in backend-heavy environments involving orchestration, provisioning, and APIs.
Ability to reason about physical vs. logical services and how physical constraints impact software systems.
Experience working across multiple specialized engineering teams.
Practical experience in Agile delivery environments (Scrum or similar), with a focus on shipping.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills—this is a hard requirement.
Ability to engage credibly with:
Engineers
Network Operations
Sales Engineering
Product leadership
Customers (as needed)
Strong ownership mindset; you take responsibility for outcomes, not just inputs.
Humility and professionalism—willing to challenge ideas, accept feedback, and be wrong when necessary.
Transport or infrastructure experience is strongly preferred, but not required if you bring adjacent network or systems experience and learn quickly.

How This Role Is Different
This is not a consumer PM role and not a network engineering role.
It exists to ensure that transport product strategy becomes real, shippable software—accounting for physical infrastructure realities, system constraints, and delivery tradeoffs.
