The work location for this role is 483 Bay Street in Toronto until approximately late 2026, when the work location will change to the new Mississauga office at 3 Robert Speck Parkway.

How You’ll Make an Impact

As a Senior Technical Analyst, Data Engineering and Business Intelligence, at Fidelity Investments Canada, you will focus on building, automating and scaling internal data pipelines and analytics tools using Python and Snowflake, while also supporting the Business intelligence enablement through modern BI tools. The role supports analytics and automation for the Product organization, including product research, development and ETF capital markets functions.

You will work closely with Product, BI and IT teams to modernize spreadsheet-based processes, improve data reliability and enable self-service analytics through well-designed Data Models and Dashboards.

Data Engineering & Automation

  • Design, develop and maintain Python-based data pipelines, automation scripts and internal analytics tools.
  • Build and optimize data transformations, models and workflows in Snowflake and Informatica Cloud.
  • Convert existing spreadsheet-based models into scalable, centralized Python and Snowflake-based solutions.
  • Automate internal reporting, data validation, back-testing and analytical workflows to reduce manual effort and error risk.
  • Partner with the Product team to support analytics related to competitor analysis, performance reporting, risk ratings, fund comparisons and research initiatives.
  • Apply sound engineering practices including version control (Git), modular code design, logging and unit testing.
  • Support an agile development approach, responding to evolving internal business needs.

BI Enablement & Visualization

  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports primarily using Tableau.
  • Support BI solutions using Power BI or SAP Business Objects where applicable.
  • Translate analytical outputs and engineered datasets into intuitive, consumable visualizations.
  • Publish, manage and support BI assets and Data sources for internal users.
  • Ensure BI solutions align with underlying data models and engineering best practices.

Platform, Security & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with BI and IT teams to support BI platform administration as needed (Tableau Cloud, Power BI Service, SAP Business Objects).
  • Maintain internal data security, access controls and governance standards.
  • Work cross-functionally with Product, BI and Engineering teams to deliver reliable internal analytics solutions.

What We’re Looking For

  • University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in Data Engineering, BI Analytics or a closely related role.
  • Strong proficiency in Python for data engineering, automation and analytics.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake, including data modeling, SQL development and performance optimization.
  • Advanced SQL skills and experience working with relational and cloud-based data platforms.
  • Experience building internal data pipelines, automation, or analytics tools.
  • Experience with Tableau (preferred).

The Expertise You Bring

  • Understanding of how BI tools consume and interact with engineered data models.
  • Experience with Power BI and/or SAP Business Objects is acceptable.
  • Ability to translate business problems into scalable Data and automation solutions.
  • Experience modernizing spreadsheet-driven processes into robust Data workflows.
  • Strong understanding of Data modeling and performance optimization principles.
  • Experience using Git or similar version control systems.
  • Understanding of internal data governance, security and access management.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting analytics for financial products or capital markets.
  • Exposure to BI platform administration (Tableau Cloud, Power BI Service, SAP BO).
  • Experience with Informatica Cloud (e.g., data integration, data quality or pipeline orchestration).
  • Experience with orchestration, scheduling, or workflow automation tools.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS (e.g., S3, IAM, Lambda, or related services).

  • Base Salary and Discretionary Performance Bonus: A competitive annual range of $120,000 to $150,000, based on your experience and qualifications.
