The Senior Tax Associate (“Senior Tax Associate”) works with a team to identify tax savings opportunities for clients and to gain an understanding of how the client computes each component of specified tax. This includes researching issues, reconciling databases, and completing detailed calculations.

Duties and responsibilities, as they align to Ryan’s Key Results

People:

  • Create a positive team member experience.
  • Mentor team members on development systems, products and processes.

Client:

  • Responds to client inquiries and requests from tax authorities.
  • Prepares monthly client project summary reports.
  • Prepares monthly client project summary reports.
  • Reviews and reconciles client data downloads and identifies tax issues to research.
  • Develops review schedules and checklist from client data downloads.
  • Responds to client inquiries and requests from state agencies.

Value:

  • Assists Manager in developing project workplans and scheduling associated project deliverables.
  • Assists in the negotiation of tax resolutions with state/federal agencies.
  • Performs tax technical research and is able to interpret findings and communicate with Manager and above.
  • Supervises Consultant and Assistant Consultant staff on project assignments.
  • Drafts filings, such as petitions for redetermination, refund claims, and various other administrative replies.
  • Communicates effectively through written and verbal channels.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have intermediate to advance skills in Microsoft® Word, Access, Excel, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Requires limited supervisory responsibilities, including training employees, assigning work, and checking work for accuracy and completeness.

Work Environment:

  • Standard indoor working environment.
  • Occasional long periods of sitting while working at computer.
  • Occasional long periods of standing while copying.
  • Position requires regular interaction with employees and clients both in person and via e-mail and telephone.
