Senior Tax Analyst

As Senior Tax Analyst, you will develop and implement tax strategies that align with PGE's financial objectives and contribute to the company's sustainable energy goals. You will research and recommend innovative tax approaches to minimize liability while ensuring compliance with evolving regulations in the utility industry. A successful candidate will have advanced knowledge of tax laws and practices, coupled with strong analytical thinking and communication skills. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Renewable Energy Tax Credits – Lead the qualification, compliance, and documentation of tax credits for existing renewable energy projects, while advising on planning and structuring considerations for future developments.

  • Tax Provision & Reporting – Prepares and supports the monthly, quarterly, and annual income tax provision in accordance with ASC 740, including calculation of current and deferred taxes, analysis of effective tax rate drivers, and preparation of supporting schedules and audit-ready documentation for financial reporting.

  • Strategy and Planning – Research, develop, and recommend tax strategies aligned with the organization’s financial objectives, including evaluation of impacts on utility regulation; document technical positions supporting tax treatment.

  • Tax Process Support – Perform technical tax research and planning, including analysis of new legislation, regulations, and court decisions, and assess their potential impact on the organization.

  • Tax Return Compliance – Assist with accurate and timely preparation, review, and filing of all required tax returns across jurisdictions (federal, state, local, and international); coordinate with external providers, ensure data integrity, and resolve technical issues to maintain full compliance.

  • Financial Systems Management – Partner with Finance and Financial Systems teams to ensure systems capture and provide accurate data required for tax compliance and reporting.

  • Internal Consultation – Advise internal stakeholders on the tax implications of business strategies and transactions; evaluate the impact of new laws on current and future tax positions.

  • External Interaction – Support and manage interactions with taxing authorities, including participation in audits, responding to inquiries, and driving resolution of issues.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONS

Education

Requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or other related field or equivalent experience

Experience

Typically five or more years in related field

Certifications

CPA preferred
