We are seeking an experienced tax professional to lead corporate and partnership tax compliance and reporting across Canadian and international operations. This role offers the opportunity to apply deep technical expertise, collaborate with Finance and external partners, and influence tax strategy while driving continuous improvement through technology and mentorship.

Minimum Requirements:

  • University Degree, preferably Business, Finance or Accounting related and minimum 7-12 years' relevant experience

  •  Has a professional accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA, CPA)

  • Completion of Level 3 In-depth Tax Program

  • Capability to navigate the provisions of the Canadian Income Tax Act and solid understanding of IAS 12 and other IFRS Measures

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Excel, Corporate Taxprep and partnership return software

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review corporate and partnership income tax returns, elections and other necessary filings for Canadian and International jurisdictions

  • Prepare and review tax provisions and tax disclosures for external financial statements and partner reporting purposes as well as provide support and responses to Federal and provincial income tax audits

  • Assist with tax research in determining appropriate tax filing positions

  • Collaborate with the external reporting team in the preparation of quarterly financial statements and other public disclosures

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior member and participate in special projects

  • Oversee and manage tax work with third party tax providers

  • Interpret changes in tax legislation and IAS 12 that may impact Suncor’s group of entities and make recommendations

  • Oversee and implement tax technology solutions and proactively seek out process improvement solutions

Location and other Key details:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.

  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday

  • Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines, and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work
