The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Senior Tax Accountant to manage tax accounting and reporting activities for QBE’s European Operations, ensuring accuracy and consistency of underlying data and corporate tax compliance. This role will focus solely on Corporate Tax and support all direct tax affairs across the UK and Europe.

Your New Role
You’ll report to the Tax Compliance Lead and work closely with internal and external stakeholders.
Main responsibilities:
Advise internal stakeholders on tax implications to inform business planning and decision-making.
Align service delivery with the Finance business plan and contribute to team strategy.
Liaise with tax authorities to manage disputes, tax recovery and audit resolution.
Monitor tax legislation and communicate implications to ensure compliance.
Refine processes and systems to improve efficiency of tax accounting activities.
Provide high-level advice and guidance on taxation matters to support decision-making.
Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including tax authorities and auditors.
Undertake UK corporation tax compliance and quarterly reporting for relevant entities.
Assist with ad hoc indirect and employment tax issues and projects.
Coach and mentor less experienced team members to support development.
About You
You’ll bring exceptional numeracy and a sharp eye for detail, with the ability to juggle priorities and meet deadlines. Your communication skills, collaborative approach, and curiosity to learn will make you a valued partner across the business.
Other skills you’ll need:
ATT or CTA qualified.
Qualified Accountant (preferably ACCA or equivalent).
Big 4 or in-house corporate tax experience.
Great knowledge of UK corporate tax legislation and best practice.
Excellent Excel skills; familiarity with Alphatax, Hyperion, Fusion desirable.
Understanding of international tax issues is an advantage.
Experience about using AI tools such as Co-pilot (desirable).
