At American Family Insurance, you will lead priorities that support our people and business forward. Specializing in developing our skills infrastructure and intelligence and supporting other talent programs impacting the employee lifecycle—including performance management, employee engagement and retention, career pathing, skills infrastructure and intelligence, and competency management—you will help shape the employee experience at AmFam. You will ensure our organization remains healthy and positioned for long-term success by establishing clear, measurable goals and managing both current delivery and future planning. You will foster a culture of data-informed development, integrating data and customer feedback into program and product decisions. You will report to the Senior Manager of Talent Programs.

Position Compensation Range:

$86,000.00 - $142,000.00

Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Design innovative solutions to drive the creation, implementation and adoption of skills infrastructure for the organization.

  • Be a leader within our centers of practice, bringing expertise in your discipline and a broad understanding of related functions across the organization.

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of products and programs, partnering with colleagues to strategize, share ideas, and set a clear vision that reflects our values and goals.

  • Define product features by listening to and incorporating the needs and perspectives of our customers and communities.

  • Guide and support the development process for products and programs, promoting teamwork and new ideas at every stage.

  • Be an important connector between teams and partners, ensuring communication and shared understanding.

  • Organize and prioritize product backlog items, encouraging input from all team members to improve.

  • Support program and product development teams in achieving sprint goals, celebrating progress and learning from challenges together.

  • Refine and enhance each product iteration, welcoming feedback and new ideas before release.

  • Identify opportunities for growth and improvement, advocating for inclusive solutions.

  • Keep customers and partners informed and engaged throughout the product lifecycle, promoting transparency and trust.



Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform effectively in a project or program leadership role, develop consensus from a diverse work group, and motivate others into action plans.

  • Demonstrated experience planning and managing the development project from start to finish and ensure that the product(s) meet the customer's needs.

  • Demonstrated experience in program, project and portfolio management experience and demonstrated success managing internal and external partners.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience and collaboration skills.

  • Demonstrated experience as a product owner.

  • Demonstrated understanding of agile principles with experience in leading and/ or partnering on organization change efforts.

  • Business acumen and ability to understand multiple business operations.

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated communication skills, written and verbal.

  • Demonstrated presentation skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work under pressure.

  • Demonstrated experience in talent management programs and processes.

In this hybrid role, you will be expected to work a minimum of 10 days per month from the office. Candidates should reside within approximately 50 miles of one of the following office locations: Madison, WI 53783
