Senior Systems Operations Engineer

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Operations Engineer to build, support and maintain platforms in Azure.


This role requires the ability to demonstrate proficiency with traditional on-premise and cloud technologies including virtualization, storage and network and strong experience with GitHub and Terraform.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, attention to detail, and can work independently to complete tasks involving incident management, change management, platform stability, toil reduction, documentation and capacity planning. The role requires experience supporting and troubleshooting large shared hosting platforms like Kubernetes and the ability to quickly resolve platform and application issues.

Key Responsibilities

-Resolve platform and application issues

-Troubleshoot issues involving on-prem and cloud technologies including, Linux, Kubernetes, Network, Storage, DNS.

-Complete root cause analysis on complex issues

-Build, maintain and update cloud platforms using infrastructure as code

-Reduce toil and drive down incident MTTR.
-Identify operational gaps and inefficiencies

-Drive continuous improvement initiatives
-Help strengthen our data driven approach


In this role, you will:

  • Lead or participate in managing all installed systems and infrastructure within the Systems Operations functional area
  • Contribute in increasing system efficiencies and lowering the human intervention time on related tasks
  • Review and analyze moderately complex operational support systems, application software, and system management tools to ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
  • Work with vendors and other technical personnel for problem resolution
  • Lead team to meet technical deliverables while leveraging solid understanding of technical process controls or standards
  • Collaborate with vendors and other technical personnel to resolve technical issues and achieve highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability


Required Qualifications:

4+ years of Systems Engineering, Technology Architecture experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
4+ years of experience with public cloud and on-prem technologies 
4+ years of experience with supporting Linux
2+ years of experience with Terraform and GitHub
2+ years of experience with Kubernetes


Desired Qualifications:

2+ years of experience with Python
4+ years of experience supporting shared hosting environments
4+ years of experiences with Incident and change Management

2+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering
2+ years of experience with Harness pipeline creation

2+ years of experience with Jira, Grafana, KQL and JQL

1+ years of experience with LLMs and Agentic AI

Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
