Senior Systems Operations Engineer

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Systems Operations Engineer in supporting a critical function within the Wells Fargo Enterprise, Mainframe and Midrange Console Monitoring.


In this role, you will:

  • Lead or participate in managing all installed systems and infrastructure within the Systems Operations functional area

  • Contribute in increasing system efficiencies and lowering the human intervention time on related tasks

  • Review and analyze moderately complex operational support systems, application software, and system management tools to ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability

  • Work with vendors and other technical personnel for problem resolution

  • Lead team to meet technical deliverables while leveraging solid understanding of technical process controls or standards

  • Collaborate with vendors and other technical personnel to resolve technical issues and achieve highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability


Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Systems Engineering, Technology Architecture experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


Desired Qualification:

  • 4+ years of experience in Mainframe console operations
  • 4+ years of experience using incident tracking tools (Service Now) for change management, problem and incident management, and availability management.
  • Monitor the overall Mainframe/Midrange system environment, responding to alert messages and resolving routine production, application and system problems according to operating instructions or with guidance to ensure that the data center service commitments are met
  • Implement best practices for Mainframe Operations. Process Development, Quality Management Processes, Industry Knowledge
  • Runs scripts and drafts updates to processing procedures / documentation within the data center for application processing and backup
  • Lead or participate in managing all installed systems and infrastructure within the systems Operations functional area
  • Contribute in increasing system efficiencies and lowering the human intervention time on related tasks
  • Review and analyze moderately complex operational support systems, application software, and system management tools to ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
  • Develop knowledge business cycles and capabilities to assess the impact of technology events on the business and other support areas
  • Work with vendors and other technical personnel for problem resolution
  • Lead team to meet technical deliverables while leveraging solid understanding of technical process controls or standards
  • Collaborate with vendors and other technical personnel to resolve technical issues and achieve highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
  • Collaborate with management and teams to handle questions or problems
  • Act as a mentor for individuals
  • Knowledge of scripting languages, - JCL, system utilities, operating systems, tape processing, scheduling packages and incident and change management principles. 
  • Demonstrated ability in MF skills: z/OS related (JES2, VTAM etc.), CICS, IMS, DB2, HMC, Console commands, IPL etc. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of technology support: logically analyzing, diagnosing, and solving technology problems (system, network, application, or field hardware).

  • Must be self-motivated, able to multitask and work under pressure as a member of a high performance geographically dispersed team


Job Expectations:
