P&C IT Services provides professional services to help our business units and corporate functions use technology to create, manage, and optimize information and business processes. IT Services can include a wide range of activities such as: software development, data management, Cloud services, IT security, network security, technical support, establishing and overseeing access rights, procuring and maintaining equipment or software, managing the infrastructure, and defining security procedures, The overall goal of IT Services is to provide technology solutions that increase efficiency, reduce costs, and give our company a competitive advantage over our competitors.
The Infrastructure team within P&C IT Services is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer. This individual will work a hybrid schedule in the Cincinnati office.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
- Review, analyze, build, configure and administer servers (physical, virtual, IaaS and appliances)
- Support Windows and Red Hat servers in traditional, private and hybrid cloud environments
- Support web configurations including Apace, Web Logic, JBOSS, IIS or equivalent
- Support and utilize RedHat tools including Ansible and Satellite for environment automation, desired state and management
- Install, configure and administer high availability clusters across multiple data centers and regions
- Create and maintain complex scripting using PowerShell, Bash, Perl, Python or equivalents for automation, reporting and environment management
- Migrate and rehost applications and servers associated with data center migrations and acquisitions
- Provide solution engineering services to Infrastructure customers
- Single point of contact for infrastructure platform requests as well as dependencies
- Consult with personnel to identify current operating procedures, clarify objectives and provide feedback to further improve processes and automation
- Recommend and implement enhancements to improve the efficiency, security, supportability and/or resiliency of the IT ecosystem
- Utilize and expand capabilities of existing tools to improve the IT ecosystem
- Collaborate with other technical staff to resolve problems with infrastructure and applications
- Responds to suggestions for improvements and enhancements
- Provide on-call support (Weeknights/Weekends).
- Lead moderately complex projects.
- Work independently in the absence of supervision
- Create and maintain technical documentation
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline or equivalent experience.
Required Skills:
- Excellent analytical, organizational, strategic and critical thinking skills
- Detailed understanding of monitoring and service management
- Operating System: Linux RedHat 7, 8, 9 and Windows server 2019, 2022, 2025
- Management/Patching: Satellite and MECM
- Experienced with a variety of automation tools such as Ansible, VRA, VRO
- Middleware support/configuration using Web Logic, JBOSS, Apache, and IIS
- Storage: Local and SAN (All RAID Types), NFS, RDM, etc.
- Hardware: Dell, HP, Cisco UCS, Blades and Chassis
- Environmental: VMware 3 tier, VMware Cloud Foundation, Azure Local and Azure Cloud
- Security: Knowledgeable of firewalls, server security, encryption, Networking (NSX)
- Knowledgeable of disaster recovery processes and principles
- Knowledgeable of project management process and principles
- Infrastructure as Code: design and security, configuration management, integration, deployment, performance monitoring and tuning, automation of infrastructure.
- Experience with deployment and management of landing zones in one or more of the public cloud providers (AWS, Azure or GCP)
- Exhibit specialized knowledge of cloud platforms, specifically Azure.
Preferred Skills:
- Deep knowledge of Terraform, GitHub, Github Actions, CI/CD and Azure DevOps.
- Experience designing and maintaining an IaaS imaging and integration platform for deployment of resources to the public cloud.
- Database: SQL, Oracle, DB2, PostgreSQL systems at an OS admin and Windows clustering level
- Identify, communicate and mitigate Risks, Assumptions, Issues and Decisions associated with engineering of cloud infrastructure solutions
- Working knowledge of one or more high-level programming languages (C#, Java, PHP, Ruby, Python, etc.).
