Senior Systems Engineer
This position is located at the RTS Operations Center in Huntsville, Alabama.
Essential Functions
- Perform analysis of documented user requirements and direct or assist in the design of test plans in support of user requirements for complex missile flight tests.
- Assist in planning, training and operational activities performed by the Test Directors (TD).
- Assist the Test Director Manager (TDM) in establishing a training program for TDs, administer training to new and existing TDs, and ensure qualified TDs are assigned for mission activity.
- Assist the TDM in allocating resources to accomplish mission objectives.
- Assist the TDM in ensuring all data products meet the set quality standards and requirements, and ensure all quality records are maintained accordingly.
- Assist the TDM in completing counseling and evaluation of System Engineers when needed.
- Assist in the development of program short and long-term plans, monitor progress, assure adherence, and evaluate performance.
- Participate in all phases of risk management assessment and software/hardware development of test configurations.
- Serve on radar systems console to support real-time flight test execution as instrumentation controller, analyst, or Test Director.
- Explain radar data collected, including any anomalies, to highly technical range customers.
- Provide recommendations for calibration improvements and modifications.
- Work closely with personnel at remote locations to accomplish engineering activities.
- Continuously share knowledge and lessons learned with coworkers. Required Skills
- Work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to represent technical and operational concepts concisely and accurately to multiple levels of management.
- Ability to effectively use light programming abilities in UNIX/LINUX and Gnome Desktop.
- Familiarity with the suite of MS Office products.
- Ability to perform duties effectively with moderate supervision.
- Ability to effectively interface at a technical level with engineers from varying backgrounds.
- Ability to exhibit a high level of integrity and professionalism.
- Excellent customer service, oral and written communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Provide timely decision making during mission execution.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining poise.
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM-related discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math).
- Minimum of two years’ experience in an Engineering or Technical environment with an emphasis on Radar Systems.
- Project management experience desired.
- Radar Engineering, Operations and Maintenance experience desired.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. passport for limited travel.
- Occasional travel to Marshal Islands (Kwajalein Atoll) is required
- The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements.
