Job Description

Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is currently looking for an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join the Precision Navigation (PNav) Systems Department for Identify Friend or Foe (IFF) solutions for air defense, air control, and self-protection missions in airborne and ground applications. The System Engineering Test team is involved in all aspects of Systems Design and Integration, Verification, and Validation (IV&V). This team, based at Aberdeen Proving Ground, is responsible for supporting backend system engineering on multiple IFF product lines.

The ideal candidate for this position should be familiar with both frontend and backend systems engineering activities.  The applicant should be experienced performing engineering tasks which include  planning, documenting, and writing technical artifacts. The candidate should feel comfortable performing systems integration, gaining hands-on experience in both the lab and the field, and creating documentation.   

This is an onsite role at our Aberdeen Proving Ground facility, relocation is not provided.

What You Will Do:

  • Integrate Systems: Integrate hardware and software into IFF systems, evaluating their functionality and impact.
  • Support Testing Efforts: Develop and implement test plans, procedures, integration, and verification documentation and perform/execute the testing.
  • Troubleshoot and Analyze: Identify and resolve hardware, software, and system issues through detailed data analysis and debugging.
  • Document and Communicate: Develop integration documentation, execute plans, analyze data, verify requirements and effectively communicate results to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate: Work with a multi-disciplinary team to achieve seamless integration and system functionality.
  • Occasional Travel when needed to support mission execution at various locations including local RTX facilities, test sites, vendor facilities, and customer locations.
  • Leadership: Develop leadership skills leading small test efforts

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree and  3 minimum years of prior relevant experience
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Experience with Digital Engineering Tools (DOORS, Cameo, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.)
  • Must have Experience generating technical documentation and managing small projects
  • Experience generating and delivering technical documentation to stakeholders, including creating, reviewing, and updating test artifacts
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation} and be able to effectively communicate with IPT leaders, hardware and software development engineers, specialty engineers, program managers, and customer representatives

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Prior experience with both Waterfall and Agile Development Processes
  • Current Secret U.S. Security Clearance
  • Experience with radio, radar or secondary radar systems
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) government contracts
  • Experience leading small teams to achieve program cost and schedule objectives
  • Experience with System Engineering Product Cycle
  • Experience with National Instruments LabVIEW, LabWindows CVI or TestStand suite of tools
  • Knowledge of DoD AIMs/TSO Certifications

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
