Ledcor is seeking a dynamic Senior Surveyor Lead to drive surveying excellence on a major rail corridor project spanning the Oshawa–Whitby region. In this pivotal role, you’ll oversee the development and maintenance of the project’s survey control network, lead field survey operations, and provide critical support for complex structural construction activities. You’ll also mentor and guide junior survey crews, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and high‑quality deliverables across the project.
The Senior Surveyor will play a key coordination role between subcontractors, main construction partners, the client, and site superintendents to ensure alignment with project specifications, schedule, and quality standards. The ideal candidate has strong experience in multidisciplinary linear infrastructure projects, survey network adjustments using Starnet, advanced CAD capabilities, and demonstrated leadership in complex construction environments.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Establish, adjust, and maintain primary and secondary control networks for project alignment and infrastructure works
- Perform least-squares network adjustments using Starnet
- Ensure survey control integrity throughout the lifecycle of the rail project
- Oversee daily field survey activities including rail alignment staking, utilities, drainage, structures, and as-built surveys
- Coordinate closely with subcontractors, construction partners, site superintendents, and the client to support civil and structural works
- Act as the primary survey interface between field operations and project management
- Provide technical guidance and leadership to junior survey crews; coordinate daily work plans and priorities
- Review and process field data; ensure accuracy and compliance with project specifications and contractual requirements
- Prepare and review drawings, alignments, profiles, and surfaces using AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Coordinate with the BIM team to develop, validate, and update the 3D model for construction execution
- Support construction sequencing by proactively identifying potential survey or alignment conflicts
- Maintain QA/QC procedures, documentation standards, and reporting requirements
- Promote and enforce jobsite safety standards and best practices
Qualifications:
- Degree or Diploma in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 8+ years of surveying experience, with significant experience on linear infrastructure or rail projects
- Demonstrated experience in survey network development and maintenance
- Proficiency in Starnet for least-squares network adjustments
- Proficiency with Leica Infinity for data processing and periodic leveling campaigns
- Strong knowledge of GNSS systems, total stations, and modern survey equipment
- Strong understanding of classical set of angles for control campaigns, precision leveling campaigns and least-squares adjustment methods
- Advanced CAD skills (AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred)
- Experience supporting rail construction crews and coordinating multidisciplinary field teams
- Strong understanding of rail corridor geometry, alignments, and construction tolerances
- Proven experience coordinating with subcontractors, main contractors, superintendents, and client representatives in active construction environments

Compensation
$100,000 - $120,000 Annually
This is the expected base pay range for this role. Individual base pay will be determined based on a variety of factors including experience, knowledge, skills, education and location.
