Based in Cannon Hill, this role sits within our Joint Gas Support & Test Equipment team, which delivers whole‑of‑life asset management services to all 3 branches of the Australian Defence Force. This fleet underpins critical capability across the ADF by ensuring that support and test equipment remains safe, reliable, compliant, and available for operational use.

As part of the JGSTE Fleet Asset Management Team, you will play an integral role in supporting the effective management of Defence assets throughout their lifecycle. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing demand satisfaction activities to ensure timely provision of support and test equipment
  • Conducting inventory management to maintain accurate asset visibility and serviceability status
  • Coordinating procurement and disposals in line with Defence requirements and asset lifecycle plans
  • Assisting in fleet replacement planning, including data analysis, prioritisation, and coordination with stakeholders
  • Supporting continuous improvement of asset management processes, systems, and documentation
  • This position is well‑suited to a proactive, detail‑oriented individual with strong stakeholder engagement skills and an interest in Defence capability, logistics, and asset lifecycle management.
  • Perform fleet management including providing disposal recommendations
  • Support material management planning and scheduling
  • Conduct supportability (End of Service Life / Production) polling under guidance
  • Verify recommendations for procurement / repair from inventory management tools / analysis.
  • Manage inventory locations to optimise inventory holdings / procurements and repairs.
  • Inventory Management, including maintaining stock levels at locations and ensuring the integrity of material control data and inventory management system data.
  • Repairable Item activities including management and control of repairs and technical regulatory reports.
  • Freight and distribution activities including use of standard national and international freight agents and development of custom freight solutions.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Requires a Certificate IV in Logistics, Supply Chain, Transportation or Distribution, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3-4 years prior relevant experience required in inventory and asset management in a defence environment.
  • Requires theoretical to advanced knowledge of the logistics, supply chain, transportation or distribution work area.
  • Requires practical knowledge of project, programs, or systems relevant to the business with the ability to make enhancements and leverage knowledge in daily work.
