About the role
Join us as a Senior Strategy Manager and play a pivotal role in defining, developing, and driving the strategic direction of the UK’s leading investment platform. You’ll work side by side with senior leaders, transforming insight into action and ensuring our biggest priorities are clear, evidence led, and aligned to long term growth. From analysing markets and competitors to crafting board level strategic materials, this is your opportunity to make a real, lasting impact at the heart of HL.
What you’ll be doing
- Drive the annual multi‑year strategic planning process with high‑quality analysis and research.
- Develop and maintain strategic frameworks, plans, and executive‑level presentations.
- Translate strategic priorities into clear objectives and measurable initiatives.
- Conduct market, competitor, regulatory, and macroeconomic research to inform decision‑making.
- Produce clear insights, briefings, and scenario analyses for senior leaders.
- Assess strategic options, investment cases, and potential partnerships or propositions.
- Contribute to due diligence and post‑decision reviews where required.
- Collaborate across finance, client, digital, product, transformation, and operational teams to ensure alignment.
- Prepare, coordinate, and quality‑check materials for Executive Committee and Board forums.
- Enhance strategy tools, templates, and best‑practice approaches while building your own strategic capability.
About you
- Experience in strategy, consulting, or analytical roles ideally in a financial service or tech retail industry.
- Interest and knowledge of financial services, technology, strategy, economics, or business transformation, with an ability to forecast trends and stay ahead of emerging innovations
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, able to present complex information in simple context, adapting your style to suit your audience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication with high attention to detail.
- Confident quantitative and qualitative research capability.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams, prioritise, and meet deadlines.
- Curious, commercially minded, collaborative, and comfortable engaging senior stakeholders with integrity and professionalism.
Interview process
This will entail a 2-stage interview process including a presentation and psychometric assessment.
Working Schedule
This role is based in Bristol head office, BS1 5HL. This role is a permanent role, full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. We have returned to the office, however for this role we offer a hybrid flexible working pattern.
