OVERVIEW:
The Sr. Manager of Store Design & Planning leads a team of Store Design Planners in designing and delivering new and remodel DICK’S Sporting Goods store plans by joining the physical and merchandising attributes of the brand into cost conscious spaces that excite and engage our athletes and teammates. The Sr Manager ensures the effective merger of business strategies, athlete and teammate experiences, and performance metrics with site-specific conditions, fixtures, materials, and design principles into each store’s environment. This person coordinates the efforts of internal and external partners in developing prototype standards, guidelines, and training tools for the broader team. The Sr. Manager leads large scale store builds, remodels, new concepts, store conversions, new stores and strategic initiatives. The Sr. Manager drives design development, process improvement, budget preparation, and change management to ensure project goals are met. The Senior Manager identifies, resolves, and escalates the status of critical projects as necessary.

Job Description & Responsibilities
Work Activity
Ensure design options meet or improve upon the site budget and return on investment thresholds. Prepare and prepare the corresponding presentations for review, alignment, and approval.
Incorporate unique site characteristics into the store design that result in an enhanced environment at favorable cost impacts.
Utilize extensive experience in developing and presenting innovative design solutions to anomaly site and store spaces.
Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and positively impact athletes’ in-store experience.
Manage the roll outs of key initiatives in new and existing stores ensuring they are planned and installed on schedule and within budget.
Collaborate with stakeholders and business partners to define objectives, scope, and project execution time-and-action steps of key projects across the Store Planning and Space Management functions.
Manage key projects and workstreams across the department including issue/risk identification and resolution, change management, reporting enhancement, and internal/external communication.
Make outcome-based decisions that ensure the success of initiatives and increase their speed of delivery.
Complete the comprehensive analysis and due diligence in support each project ensuring each project’s KPIs (time, budget, ROI, etc.) are met.
Manage the Site Review process, leading internal stakeholders in the tracking, prioritization, and plan development of potential new stores.
Identify obstacles to the timely completion of project deliverables, create action plans to overcome the challenges, and ensure cross-functional teams have clear direction on how to achieve desired results.
Manage the relationship with external vendor partners ensuring deadlines and productivity expectations are met or exceeded.
Process Improvement and Operational Excellence
Review and assess departmental level processes across Store Planning and Space Management.
Identify the critical paths for department processes and identify opportunities to drive efficiencies and operational excellence.
Identify and recommend techniques, solutions, or technology to improve delivery quality, increase efficiency, and reduce costs.
Develop reporting for the assessment and measurement the department’s ability to meet or exceed project and release deadlines and budget.
Create consistent department standards and best practices ensuring all project and release deadlines are efficiently met.
Provide recommendations and action steps to remove roadblocks, gaps, or duplicative efforts that hinder speed to market outcomes.
Cross-Functional Partnerships
Act as a subject matter expert on cross-functional projects, ensuring teammates build action plans that meet the operational standards of the Store Planning & Design Team.
Actively drive accountability between cross-functional teams and external vendors by gathering status updates, completion progress, and misses to deadlines or budget.
Identify barriers and obstacles that will impact timely execution of project deliverables
Supervise and Develop Talent
Manages the execution responsibilities and workload of self and direct reports to achieve department deliverables on-time, within budgetary parameters and with quality.
Provide direct reports with timely and regular feedback to support teammate development/ growth in role.
Establish strategic staffing and succession plans within span of control and gain Director support; successfully deliver on proposed staffing objectives.
Drive the talent selection process for direct report positions ensuring direct reports are appropriately trained and on-boarded.
Demonstrate a high level of passion and commitment to enhancing the overall teammate experience by displaying integrity, inclusion, and empowering direct/indirect reports to be their best.
Provide leadership and professional development helping teammates develop their skills.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Architecture or Interior Design
7-10 years of experience in Architecture, Interior Design, Retail design industry/environments experience, preferred
Architect or Interior Design License preferred but not required
Proficient in Revit BIM software, AutoCad, Sketchup, Adobe Creative Suite
Experience in V-Ray and Enscape is a plus
Demonstrated ability to manage and lead multiple projects, in a fast paced and dynamic environment
Excellent relationship building skills among a wide range of stakeholders
Ability to confidently present to Executive Leadership
Strong cross-functional knowledge in a variety of retail functions, including Merchandising, Store Ops, Planning, Visual Merchandising and Store Design.
Expert in applying design skills including concepting, ideation, special design in scale, and space planning layouts
Strong attention to detail
Highly collaborative with ability to work within a team and independently
Strong knowledge of production design, fabrication, materiality, and emerging trends.

Targeted Pay Range: $95,200.00 - $158,800.00. This is part of a competitive total rewards package that could include other components such as: incentive, equity and benefits. Individual pay is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations.
