Northrop Grumman is seeking a talented Senior Staff Systems Engineer to join our Systems Integration & Test team under the Tactical Fighters Business Unit. Candidate should be a self-starter with a strong mechanical or electrical engineering background. This position will be in Linthicum, MD.
As part of the Systems Engineering Integration & Test functional homeroom, the Staff Systems Engineer will be responsible for leading system-level hardware qualification testing.
A current/active DoD Secret clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain a Special Access Program clearance is required.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Identify (or Define and document) the system capability roadmap and long-term capability delivery sequencing
- Understand and drive integration of firmware and software that meets customer needs across all integration teams and labs.
- Perform and document system functional decomposition down to hardware, firmware, and software behaviors
- Establish capability traceability across subsystem hardware, firmware, and software components
- Consult with subsystem, firmware, and software leads to document existing regression test processes and maturity
- Collaborate with subsystem, firmware, and software leads to develop and deploy a structured regression test pipeline that ensures appropriate test coverage is applied at the correct system layers
- Communicate desired system capabilities and functional expectations clearly to lower-level firmware and software teams to inform test planning
- Collaborate with subsystem, firmware, and software leads to define test sufficiency criteria for delivery to integration labs
- Identify, assess, and document testing gaps and integration risk drivers
- Document risks of insufficient regression testing and impacts to system integration environments
- Produce clear documentation and briefings for technical leadership and lower-level teams
Basic Qualifications for a Senior Staff Principal Systems Engineer:
- Bachelor’s degree with 14 years of experience, a Master’s degree with 12 years of experience or a Ph.D. with 4 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical fields; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- An Active DoD secret clearance prior to start is required
- 2 years of experience Identifying, assessing, and documenting testing gaps and integration risk drivers
- 2 years of experience collaborating with subsystems, firmware, and software leads to define test sufficiency criteria for delivery to integration labs
- 2 years of experience performing and documenting system functional decomposition down to hardware, firmware, and software behavior
- 2 years of experience driving integration of firmware and software that meets customer needs across all integration teams and labs

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Primary Level Salary Range: $184,100.00 - $276,100.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
