The Air Surveillance Business Unit program family anticipates a near-term need for a Senior Staff Chief Engineer – Triton Payload in Linthicum, MD location. The candidate selected will be responsible for technical execution and programmatic coordination on a significant existing program.
What You’ll Get To Do:
The Senior Staff Chief Engineer – Triton Payload is responsible for the technical direction and execution of all aspects of engineering on a program, including design, development, implementation, integration, testing, delivery, and sustainment of payload products to the customer. The Senior Staff Chief Engineer – Triton Payload is the technical leader for the payload program engineering team, serves as a technical advisor to the program manager, and is considered to be the primary technical point of contact to the customer. The Senior Staff Chief Engineer – Triton Payload coordinates across all disciplines within the program to ensure that all engineering teams adhere to sound engineering practices and operate in accordance with company policies, procedures, and quality standards.
Manage the associated program technical team and direct all aspects of engineering on an LRIP payload production program within the Air Surveillance Business Unit of Northrop Grumman - Mission Systems (MS).
Ensure the program adheres to sound engineering processes in development, production, test, and sustainment in accordance with company policies, processes, and quality standards.
Drive process development, continuous improvement, and affordability initiatives within the associated program.
Serve as the engineering team liaison for communications between Program Management, Manufacturing, Operations, Customers, and other Functional Organizations.
Ensure integration of the overall technical plan within the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) as well as monitor and control overall technical quality and performance for all engineering deliverables for the program.
Support the program manager in risk and opportunity management by identifying and owning risks associated with the area of responsibility.
Create skill/level based engineering labor forecasting inputs to support Program and Functional Management Staffing allocation and demand planning activity.
Collaborate and arbitrate engineering conflicts between Product Teams.
Coordinate between the System Architect, SEIT Lead, Product Team Lead(s), program manager, and customer to ensure the integrity and executability of the program technical baseline.
Accept additional duties that may be allocated to the role by the cognizant engineering functional and program management leaders.
Lead the responses to proposal solicitations and change requests, including architecture definition, BOE generation, and written volume creation. As needed, articulate and execute proposal solicitations to potential subcontractors.
Support business capture and growth in the program area by leading concept development, whitepapers, technical volumes, and engineering estimates.
This position is contingent on contract award, successful transfer of an active DoD Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP).
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with 14 years of experience, master's degree with 12 years of experience or Ph.D. with 10 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical fields; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
U.S Citizenship is required.
A current / active DoD Secret Clearance.
Ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP).
Experience leading technical teams in Integration and Test Phase through Low Rate Initial Production
Experience testing, troubleshooting, and performing Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCAs) in at least one of the following technical areas: RF Systems, Power Systems, or Vehicle/Sensor Processing Systems.
Experience successfully influencing internal and external technical contributors and management-level staff.
Demonstrated technical leadership skills, decisiveness, and ability to make sound technical judgments with limited information.
Experience leading proposal responses and solicitations for US DoD programs.
Experience successfully controlling cost and schedule on a technical activity utilizing Earned Value Management.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degrees in Science, Technology, Engineer, or Mathematics or other related technical fields.
A current / active DoD Top Secret Clearance or higher.
Experience serving as a Systems Engineer, Project Engineer, or Technical Program Manager
Experience successfully testing, troubleshooting, and performing Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCAs) on all of the following: RF Systems, Power Systems, and vehicle/sensor compute systems.
Experience leading technical teams on a complete system life-cycle (e.g. PDR, LRIP, End of Life).
Experience collecting, prioritizing, and dispositioning field failures, part obsolescence, and enhancement requests that originate from suppliers, customers, end users, or field service representatives.
Experience on US Navy Programs.
Experience on Global Hawk, Triton, or other Piloted/Remote Piloted ISR platforms.
