Senior Specialist Risk Governance & Transversal Risk

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Risk Governance professional to support the oversight and continued enhancement of the Bank’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework. Reporting to the Head of Risk Governance, Transversal Risk and ERM Chief of Staff, the role has a strong focus on risk governance, transversal and emerging risks, particularly ESG Risk and Geopolitical Risk, within a complex regulatory environment.  This role is based in our Munich office and requires a minimum of three days per week in the office. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and effective operation of the risk governance and ERM framework, including policies, procedures, and governance documentation.
  • Coordinate bank-wide risk governance processes, ensuring consistency across risk types and alignment with global standards.
  • Prepare high-quality materials and reporting for risk committees, Executive Management, Supervisory Board, and regulators.
  • Support regulatory, internal audit, and external audit engagements, including coordination of responses and tracking of actions.
  • Identify, assess, and monitor transversal and emerging risks, with a focus on ESG (including climate and environmental risk) and Geopolitical Risk.
  • Support the integration of ESG Risk into governance, risk assessments, and committee reporting, and monitor related regulatory developments.
  • Analyse geopolitical developments and assess potential impacts on the Bank’s risk profile, including scenario considerations.
  • Support Model Risk Governance and risk‑overarching activities such as Risk Strategy and Stress Testing.
  • Work closely with stakeholders across the Lines of Defence to ensure consistent risk assessment, challenge, and messaging.
  • Contribute to risk governance projects and ad‑hoc senior management requests.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience in risk management, risk governance, or a related control function within a financial institution.
  • Strong experience in risk governance and enterprise risk management; hands‑on experience in ESG Risk and/or Geopolitical Risk is required.
  • Good understanding of the banking regulatory environment, ideally within Europe.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with experience preparing executive and committee-level materials.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively across functions.
  • Proactive, detail‑oriented, and collaborative, with a high level of professionalism and integrity.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline preferred.
  • Fluent in German and English; proficiency in an additional European language is an advantage.
