The Senior Public Relations Specialist plays a key role in executing TruGreen’s public relations strategy, with a focus on driving consistent, credible, and visible storytelling across earned and owned channels.
This role reports to the PR Manager and supports both Corporate and Brand Public Relations efforts, including integrated campaigns that strengthen awareness, credibility, and engagement across key audiences.
A core focus of this role is supporting TruGreen’s News Engine by working closely with our PR agency and the agronomy team to translate scientific expertise into compelling content that earns placement in key publications and builds brand authority.
In addition, this role partners across the business and with the agency to elevate executive visibility, strengthen brand reputation, and proactively address emerging challenges, particularly as AI-driven search and content platforms increasingly shape public perception.
Responsibilities
Working with our agency, serve as a day-to-day driver of TruGreen’s News Engine PR efforts by ensuring consistent, high-quality execution of messaging across channels
Partner closely with the agronomy team to develop science-backed content and secure placements in industry, consumer, and trade publications as part of our News Engine strategy
Identify and execute opportunities for article placement, bylines, and media coverage that position TruGreen as the authority in lawn care and agronomic expertise
Support executive visibility efforts through strategic media placements and written content to enhance TruGreen’s reputation
Proactively monitor and respond to AI-driven search trends and narratives, ensuring accurate, positive representation of TruGreen across emerging platforms
Post PR coverage internally and externally on TruGreen platforms.
Track media coverage, sentiment, and share of voice, identifying opportunities to strengthen positioning and address risks
Assist in the development and distribution of press materials, including press releases, talking points, and media briefs
Support the PR Manager in executing Brand PR initiatives and integrated campaigns, ensuring alignment with overall marketing and business objectives
Assist in building and maintaining relationships with key media contacts, journalists, and industry influencers
Monitor competitive activity and industry trends to identify proactive PR opportunities and potential reputational risks
Partner cross-functionally with Marketing, Customer Experience, Legal, and Operations to ensure alignment and consistency in messaging
Support crisis and issues management efforts, including rapid response and proactive reputation protection

Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field
3+ years of experience in public relations, media relations, or communications
Experience with earned media strategy, content placement, and thought leadership development
Experience working with technical or subject matter experts (agronomy or science-based communication experience is a plus)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear, engaging content
Consistently represents the company with professionalism, credibility, and appropriate discretion in all settings
Capable of stepping in and working after hours when necessary
Proven ability to secure media placements and manage editorial relationships
Understanding of SEO, AI search trends, and digital reputation management
Ability to manage multiple priorities and execute in a fast-paced environment
Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills
High attention to detail and commitment to quality
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with media monitoring tools
Ability to speak, read and write fluently in English is required.
