Role Overview

The Public Cloud Automation Software Engineer role will be instrumental in implementing the architecture and the engineering processes and best practices to enable the foundational infrastructure (compute, network, storage, observability) required for application hosting in public cloud. This role will focus on designing, building, and operating automated, secure, and compliant cloud infrastructure at scale. The ideal candidate combines strong infrastructure-as-code expertise (Terraform), deep cloud networking knowledge, and practical experience delivering repeatable, auditable automation in highly regulated environments.

What will you do in this role

  • Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code (IaC), with Terraform as the primary IaC tool
  • Build and operate automated pipelines for provisioning, configuration, testing, and deployment of cloud resources (CI/CD for infrastructure)
  • Deliver the tooling and capabilities needed to enable our cloud first strategy
  • Drive client satisfaction by identifying and developing process improvement and automation initiatives while ensuring compliance of slutions to operation roadmap
  • Develop, document, and maintain reusable Terraform modules, templates, and standards to accelerate secure and compliant cloud deployments across multiple teams and regions
  • Develop, document, and maintain reusable Ansible playbooks, templates, and standards to accelerate secure and compliant cloud deployments across multiple teams and regions
  • Collaborate with network engineering to design and implement cloud network architectures (VPC/VNet design, subnets, routing, transit/gateway, peering, security zones)
  • Implement and manage connectivity solutions including VPN, Direct Connect / ExpressRoute, Transit Gateways, NAT, service endpoints, and hybrid connectivity patterns
  • Implement robust security and compliance controls in infrastructure code (IAM roles and policies, network segmentation, NSGs/firewalls, encryption, logging)
  • Build automated testing, policy-as-code and validation frameworks (e.g., Terraform plan checks, Sentinel/Open Policy Agent, GitOps workflows)
  • Integrate infrastructure automation with observability, logging and incident management (CloudWatch/Azure Monitor/GCP Monitoring, SIEM integration)
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure and network issues across cloud environments; work with cloud vendor support as needed
  • Drive automation best practices, runbooks, and operational playbooks; mentor other engineers on IaC and network design
  • Maintain lifecycle management for cloud infrastructure: drift detection, upgrades, module versioning, and secure secrets handling
  • Participate in architecture reviews, risk assessments, and change control processes required for a regulated industry
  • Provide technical input for cost optimization and capacity planning for network and infrastructure services
  • Groom Jira features and stories to improve reliability and reduce support incidents for global cloud infrastructure
  • Provide on-call support in case of escalations and major incidents

What should you have

Primary skill- IaC (Infrastructure as Code) / DevOps, Terraform, Ansiblie, infrastructure automation

Secondary-Azure, AWS, GCP

  • Bachelors’ degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or any Technology stream.
  • 7+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure engineering with infrastructure-as-code
  • Advanced hands-on experience with Terraform (module development, state management, workspaces, remote backends)
  • Strong understanding of cloud networking concepts and hands-on experience designing and implementing network architectures in at least one major public cloud (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Familiarity with cloud provider networking services and best practices (e.g., AWS Transit Gateway, Azure Virtual WAN, Google Cloud VPC + Shared VPC)
  • Proficiency in CI/CD tooling for infrastructure (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps), and Git-based workflows (GitOps)
  • Experience with configuration management and automation tools (Ansible, Chef, or Puppet) is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of policy-as-code and security-as-code tools (OPA, Sentinel, Chef InSpec, or equivalent)
  • Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automation and operational tasks
  • Understanding of identity and access management concepts and experience implementing IAM at scale in cloud environments
  • Experience integrating secrets management and key management services (e.g., HashiCorp Vault, AWS KMS/Secrets Manager, Azure Key Vault)
  • Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and observability platforms and how to integrate them into automated workflows
  • Knowledge of regulatory, compliance and governance considerations for highly regulated industries (GxP, HIPAA, GDPR) is a plus
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication and collaboration skills; experience working with cross-functional global teams
