Position Title: Senior Specialist Family Violence Practitioner 
Classification: SCHADS Award Level 6 
Department: Social Mission – Family Violence 
Status: Part-Time 30.4 hours per week, Fixed Term to 30.06.2026 

Location: Caloundra or Noosa 

Why this role matters

The Salvation Army (Salvos) provides a wide range of services that support women and women with children impacted by family and domestic violence. We offer accommodation, counselling, support, behavioural programs, and advice to women and children at risk of, experiencing or escaping family violence. Our services focus on prevention, restoration, and healing to provide specialised support to address immediate safety issues and provide advice, referrals, and connection to assist the recovery journey.

The role 

The Senior Specialist Family Violence Practitioner is responsible for supervising and contributing to the delivery of Family and Domestic Violence services. This includes overseeing practice with a strong emphasis on risk and safety, trauma-informed frameworks, and a client-centred approach. The role supports victim-survivors to enhance their safety, work toward independence, and strengthen their connections within the community to improve overall wellbeing. 

How you will make an impact 

  • Provide high-quality mentoring and support using a gender-informed lens, fostering community engagement, advocating for client rights, and guiding the development and review of risk assessments and safety plans. 

  • Maintain accurate case records and ensure data collection meets funding, reporting and compliance requirements. 

  • Regularly update, maintain, and implement service documentation to ensure consistency and quality in service delivery. 

  • Facilitate training on new and existing processes across the team. 

  • Ensure all client interventions align with program policies, procedures, and relevant state and national legislation and guidelines. 

  • Uphold individual rights, ensuring interactions are respectful, non-discriminatory, and culturally responsive, including the appropriate use of interpreters and provision of information in suitable formats. 

What you will bring 

  • A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Welfare/Social Sciences, Community Development, or a related discipline (essential). 

  • Experience in specialist family violence and/or child wellbeing work. 

  • Strong demonstrated case management capabilities. 

  • Proven experience supervising and coaching staff or teams. 

  • Demonstrated ability to respond effectively to the impacts of trauma. 

  • Current QLD Blue Card (or ability to obtain). 

  • Current Queensland Driver Licence.
