Job Summary
To lead a rigorous enterprise risk management approach to address risks that threaten the organization's strategic objectives or represent opportunities for competitive advantage and enables enterprise delivery on the combined objectives of Business Enablement and Business Risk.Job Description
The evolving regulatory landscape, rapid digitisation, and increasing complexity of technology‑enabled financial products (banking and insurance) require a fundamental shift in how our assurance and risk management processes operate. Traditional models—largely retrospective, compliance‑driven, and manual process‑heavy—are no longer adequate for institutions like Absa seeking resilience, agility, and proactive risk management. Key fundamental swifts built into our G&C strategy are mordernisation and automation of assurance and risk management processes across PPB.
This is a journey that we started in PSC in H2 2024 in the financial crime control area, and to date, we have seen the dividends with respect to the increased coverage of regulatory controls and the high confidence in the results. We therefore need to scale up this effort, and to this end, we are collaborating with Internal Audit through the Virtual MVP currently being developed by Deloitte.
A transformed Assurance & Risk portfolio must embrace:
Predictive, real‑time risk intelligence,
Integrated product and technology governance,
Adaptive, agile oversight models,
AI‑enabled monitoring and automation of controls,
Stronger alignment between product, risk, compliance, and engineering functions, and
Forward‑looking assurance practices that support innovation while protecting the organisation.
This new role will therefore partner with IA, External Audit and other assurance providers in driving the realization of the above vision for the team. This role will ensure the portfolio evolves from a reactive compliance function to a strategic, insight‑driven capability that partners with business to shape safe, scalable innovation.Role profile not received: Please contact your People Function business partner
